Opportunities for Growth

“For most people, their spiritual teacher is their suffering. Because eventually the suffering brings about awakening.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Suffering, whether self-inflicted or the result of outside events, brings hidden aspects of our shadow self to the surface of our consciousness. Often these are things that have been previously repressed or ignored and their appearance now has great import on your path of transformation.

When you are faced with intense internal challenges, consider viewing them as teachers rather than something that needs to be eradicated or hidden. Look deeply within to the source of your conflict and then purposely surround it with love and compassion. Know that you are on the verge of an awakening.

These inner paradoxes lead us down roads we would never consciously choose to travel. They call upon us to shatter the ego-self and strip away things and ideas that no longer serve us. Intensity accelerates your spiritual growth in ways that simple study and desire cannot. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you are ready for this. Your spirit has requested movement and the fact that something new is arising indicates that you are ready to navigate your way to higher levels of consciousness.

Inspiration

“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
~Albert Schweitzer~

The joy of creativity lies in the act of creating itself. When we open to inspiration, our energy and actions enhance life on every level. We cultivate more beauty, gratitude, joyfulness and passion in our experience. Whether you write, play music, celebrate the art of cooking, add your flair while decorating your sacred space or dance your way through raindrops, in creativity we discover our unique connection to the Divine.

Creativity connects you to your bliss and adds dimension to your experience. In solitude you find a space to play alone in your vision. You experiment without fear, discard what doesn’t work and celebrate when it feels right. In the greatest moments thought disappears, the art disappears, the artist disappears and all that remains is the Divine, expressing itself in physical form.

Be the watcher, the observer as you dance with Inspiration. Open to expression from the highest vibration possible and you will touch the energy of the masters. Then life itself becomes a mystical experience, for you are a channel of light and wonderment.

Your Unique Light

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.”
~Hafiz~
One of the things I love best about my life’s purpose is that it has allowed me to cultivate the ability to see through the illusions of ego to the truth of the soul. Even when the personality is in distress or confusion, the light of the soul shines through – radiant, captivating, beautiful. Seeing this sacred light takes away the need to judge; conversely, it prompts me to pick up a mirror and show the person with whom I am working the amazing things that I can see.
You too can cultivate this quality. Begin by celebrating yourself and your unique journey. Honor the pathways that have led you to this moment, the souls who have shared your journey and the challenges you have overcome. When you learn how to see the sacred within yourself, you will be able to recognize it in others.
Acceptance is the most important aspect of this process. Being non-reactive to the ego creates a sense of safety and trust. When others feel safe in your presence, they can explore without fear. The light that flows from an open heart chakra is transformative.

The Journey

“The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.”
~Steve Maraboli~

New experiences offer an opportunity to explore undiscovered aspects of ourselves. Fresh adventures have a unique beauty all their own. When you view your journey as a joy and a celebration, you’ll find that true security comes from a willingness to be fully present within the never-ending expansiveness of life.

Today is a new world filled with infinite possibility. Participation is key. Be willing to explore, experience and feel. Don’t close yourself off out of fear, for you never know what beauty may be waiting to unfold in your life. Listen and allow your authentic self to shine. Planning creates a rigid sense of expectation and limitation that precludes our ability to trust and express our inner wisdom.

Plans are meant to inspire movement. They open the heart to new ideas and start a flow of change in our lives; however, often that is their sole purpose. Once we set sail, the winds determine the direction.

Don’t wait for some achievement to give meaning to your life. Instead, see yourself as an adventurer into the infinite. The destination is joy.

The Power of Presence

“There is only one perpetrator of evil on the planet: human unconsciousness. That realization is true forgiveness. With forgiveness, your victim identity dissolves, and your true power emerges–the power of Presence. Instead of blaming the darkness, you bring in the light.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

When your own wounds are truly healed, you’ll be less reactive to the unconscious behavior of others.

Through the process of awakening, we come to recognize our wounds and understand what triggers our own reactivity. From this space of awareness, challenging people and situations are transformed into empowerment. As you walk consciously through the world, you’ll discover greater peace and compassion. When you witness others caught in their self-made distress, instead of joining them there, you’ll bring a sense of calmness and purpose to the present moment.

Rather than seeing yourself as a student, healer, teacher or someone who is enlightened, see yourself as Presence – the nameless, formless, infinite source of being. You are far more than the roles you play in this life. You ARE life, an ever-expending expression of the love, light and laughter of the universe.

The Awakening Soul

“Each soul must awaken from the aloneness of a private dream world to greet the morning sun, view the sweet earth, apprehend the great silence, and demonstrate an appreciative thanks to everyday of life by living in a rapt state of attentive awareness.”
~Kilroy J. Oldster~

Sometimes you have to be who you aren’t in order to discover who you are. With each new insight, your consciousness expands.

Experience is a wonderful teacher. Through experience we discover what ignites our passion as well as what leaves us feeling blocked. In frustrating situations we often come to very important realizations that impact how we choose to approach life thereafter.

Bless the moments of clarity as they arise. Your soul understands the greater purpose behind any challenging moments you may encounter and approaching them consciously makes the breakthroughs that much more freeing and empowering.

The path of awakening creates sparkling facets which allow the love of the Divine to shine beautifully through you.  Not only are you a light in the world, but you are in the process of discovering the necessary balance of dark and light and the perfection which lies within. This is your moment of transformation.

Life’s Poetry

“There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it.”
~Minnie Aumonier~
Stillness allows us to hear messages from the Divine. Seek your own inspiration by listening with the heart rather than the mind and you’ll discover the myriad ways that life has to greet you.
There are many reminders of our purpose in this playground of consciousness. When we get sidelined by the mind, often something will attempt to awaken us from the illusion. So, when a hummingbird looks you in the eye, you notice a dewdrop sparkling in the sunlight or a tree calls out for a hug, smile and honor the sign by being fully present, even if it’s just for a brief moment.
Appreciation and gratitude rejuvenate the spirit. We can teach others how to see the world differently by walking gently through the gardens of our lives. So many things thrive because of your love.

Creating Space for Something New

“First say to yourself what you would be;
and then do what you have to do.”
~Epictetus~

In the ever-shifting flow of life there is a constant movement of growth and change. We are forever in the process of endings and beginnings, expanding into new areas of understanding and recognizing the validity of what serves us best on the journey. Don’t fear the amazing potential that wishes to express itself through you. Underneath the layers of thought and belief lies an infinite source of life that lovingly waits to be explored.

It’s important to periodically go within and take stock of your energetic balance as well as recognizing and giving yourself credit for how far you’ve come on the journey of awakening. All the answers that you require are within you; however, because it can be challenging to see ourselves clearly, we must learn how to utilize the reflection provided by the world. Should you find yourself judging, staying in the story, blaming or replaying old events in the mind, recognize that you are distracting yourself from going within.

Observation creates awareness. Awareness creates movement… and movement creates the space for something new to be experienced.

Be Changed by Love

“Let us bless the humility of water,
Always willing to take the shape
Of whatever otherness holds it.”
~John O’Donohue~

Relationships provide the opportunity to discover who you are in the presence of another. As a multifaceted, radiant being of light, there is no end to this process of exploration. And, like the ocean, love is a mystery waiting to be revealed to those who are ready to receive her gifts.

When circumstances change, be willing to allow transformation in yourself. Clinging to old ways of being is resistance. As we evolve, our relationship to one another takes on new dimensions. It is there, meeting in the space between, that we can truly learn Oneness.

Honor those who grace your life by being the best version of yourself. With ruthless honesty and gentleness, delve inward to new places of discovery and wisdom will reveal itself to you. Ultimately, awakening prompts us to be a loving presence in the world. Make this your practice beginning where you are, with what you have.

The Path of Transformation

“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.”
~Lao Tzu~

Transformation is possible only through acceptance of the necessity of opposites. When we accept life as it is without judgment we learn how to transform challenges into light, blockages into opportunity and limitation into freedom. The power of acceptance lies in our ability to embrace what is.

In rejection, life becomes a struggle. Only by contrast do we discover the balance required to create the beauty of which we are all a part. Do not resist life. Learn how to see opposites as complementary, yet equal aspects of the whole. Be a loving witness to the Yin and Yang of experience.

This is how one can transform suffering into empowerment. Practice the art of acceptance by saying “Yes” to life, even the hard parts. Ask yourself if you are enjoying what you are creating. Are you blissful? If not, consider taking some risks and discover a new path. There is no need to repeat the things you have already mastered. You are here to learn, to expand and play in the infinite realm of possibility.
