Playfulness

“This is the real secret of life — to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.”
~Alan Watts~

Some see life as drudgery. Everything becomes heavy and difficult because of the energy they bring to their life situations. Yet others, perhaps appearing simple or foolish to the uninitiated, seem to play their way through life and manage to navigate challenges with greater ease.

The higher your vibration, the easier things flow. Bring playfulness into your experiences in any way that you can. Be together for the sheer joy of it. Celebrate as you walk the path of transformation without attachment to an end result.

Life is rarely as serious as the ego would like you to believe and there are many, many opportunities to bring lightheartedness into your experience. When you utilize playfulness as a powerful aspect of your awakening, everything in your experience becomes part of a loving,  vibrant conversation between you and the Divine.

It is safe to be open and vulnerable and filled with delight. May your soul be liberated by laughter. May you discover the many facets of love that seek expression through you.

Growth is a Process

“The closer we get to the end of our present evolutionary stage, the more dysfunctional the ego becomes, in the same way that a caterpillar becomes dysfunctional just before it transforms into a butterfly. But the new consciousness is arising even as the old dissolves.”

~Eckhart Tolle~

Butterflies are often seen as a symbol of complete and profound transformation. They spark childlike wonder as they delight in flowering gardens and bask in the warmth of the sun.

But the journey is hard. When it’s time for the caterpillar to change, it naturally feels compelled to create a chrysalis or a cocoon. These protective layers not only shield it from the elements, but also provide a safe space for the transformation. Enzymes are released that begin to break down the old form, leaving only liquid. One can imagine that this could be very disconcerting for the caterpillar, but it’s a necessary part of the process.

Once the old form has been completely destroyed, imaginal discs that have long laid dormant turn on and begin to create the new. When the transformation is complete, the butterfly must chew its way out of the protective shell. No one can help with this aspect of growth. If one were to open the cocoon or chrysalis, the butterfly would die. The struggle is very important.

Finally, the butterfly must get used to the new form. Awkwardness turns into beauty and they are free to fly and explore. Thus it is with us. Each stage of growth is vitally important and cannot be rushed. Trust the processes of your own transformation.

You Are Unique

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit”
~E.E. Cumming~

There is something extraordinarily captivating about someone who is authentic, unique and comfortable in their own skin. See if you can drop the need to have any defining labels in your experience. The ego seeks to belong and therefore, will often identify strongly with a particular ideology, culture, political party, religion, or role. This is an act of separation and creates division.

Older souls create a unique path. Yes, we don’t fit in and are often misunderstood, but that’s ok. The awakening spirit learns how to see beyond the identifiers and roles to the Oneness of which we are all a part.

In a world beset with conflict, you have an opportunity to be a source of peace. Embrace your uniqueness, see all life as sacred and utilize love instead of judgment. It’s not the easiest path to be sure, but is one that will uplift your soul and create something beautiful in the world.

Let’s bring about a radical transformation of the mind and find ways of living differently. You are love in human form.

Stillness and Gratitude

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”
~John Lubbock~

What happens when we immerse ourselves completely in the present moment? Everything. The world opens, healing begins and we can access the transformative joy of being. You can choose to create stillness throughout the day and intersperse Presence within the chaos. Little consciousness choices can nurture the soul in amazing ways.

Bless the frustrations that have helped you to discover the power of patience. Honor the challenges that have played their part in the formation of your character. Celebrate the friendships that bring laughter and support and love into your experience. These are the gifts that have lasting impact.

It’s enough to stop completely, close your eyes, breathe deeply three times and listen to world around you. With no words, appreciate the Now. Be present and turn your awareness inward. There you will experience the true nature of a soul in the process of awakening. Peacefulness, clarity, patience and beauty rise above the muck to welcome the sun.

Presence

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

When you bring the best version of yourself to this moment, the future will take care of itself. Plans are best utilized to set a new energy in motion, for they encompass expanded vision, desire, expression and joy. Many falter when attachment to the initial concept and plan supersedes the original inspiration. When faced with a blockage or unexpected transition, if you observe the ego becoming more active, ask “Is _____ more important than my state of consciousness?” The answer is likely going to be no.

Energy is fluid, ever-changing and light. Dance within the vibrancy of this moment knowing that something beautiful is in motion. It is our nature to be limited in perception and vision; therefore, trust that your soul knows exactly what it is doing. As we awaken, we release layers of outmoded beliefs, energetic blockages and attachments. With each conscious step forward we discover that the joy is in the doing. This is the moment of your transformation.

Express yourself, find your flow and step into the fullness of who you are. Life will respond accordingly.

Creating Change

“When contemplating what our life’s work might be, we are often driven by our attachment to security. Perhaps the one question we don’t ask often enough is “What do I have to offer?”
~Ezra Bayda~
No matter what you wish to create in your experience, it begins with a shift in your awareness. See what is possible rather than placing your focus on what is not working. Honor the process of transformation itself, embracing the small changes that naturally come from changing your thoughts.
When change becomes a celebration, it awakens infinite possibility. There are no limits to what you can create. We must be open to new ideas and perceptions in order to accept new energy. Those who remain stuck in beliefs such as “that’s the way I’ve always been” or “things will never change” live in self-made prisons.
Choose to bring your conscious awareness to your activities today. Allow the new to enter you by changing your perception. When you think differently, when you see differently, something new emerges in your experience and you will be transformed. Believe in something beautiful…

Personal Transformation

“As far as inner transformation is concerned, there is nothing you can do about it. You cannot transform yourself, and you certainly cannot transform your partner or anybody else. All you can do is create a space for transformation to happen, for grace and love to enter.”

~Eckhart Tolle~

You are a beautiful, multi-faceted soul who should take delight in the various expressions of who you are. As we traverse the path of transformation we explore different ways of being. Our varied experiences leave an indelible mark on us. It’s empowering to see every situation as an opportunity to learn something new.

You can create space in which transformation can occur. When we appreciate the richness of other cultures and viewpoints, we cultivate compassion while recognizing the commonalities betwixt us. But more than that… we are personally transformed by the new energy that shifts our auric field.

Whether changes are subtle or dramatic, the journey is one of discovery. Expansion is very literally what happens as you become more conscious. Your perception broadens as does the expression of who you are. One characteristic of awakening is the ability to look at situations (and yourself) with greater clarity. Keep changing, learning and expanding. This infinite universe has secrets to share.

Projections

Things are often far different than they appear. I interpret unkindness as a cry for help. The person who lashes out is demonstrating their own pain, misery and self-hatred for all to see. When we respond with judgment, defense or hatred of our own, we miss an opportunity to bring light to the situation. Any clash of ego can solidify that person’s particular script, thus reinforcing their original dysfunction.

As awakening souls, we have an opportunity and an obligation to do things differently. When on the receiving end of an attack, do your best not to drop into a lower state of consciousness. Choose to listen with an open heart. Take a pause and see if you can see past the pain to the core of truth and respond to that instead. Most likely, the energy will not dissipate immediately. In fact, it may temporarily increase because the others’ egoic need to fight is being thwarted.

As with anything in your life experience, once you become aware that projection is in play, it can be utilized as a powerful aspect of transformation. Like a consistent drop of water that eventually impacts the shape of stone, your light and consciousness brings change to the world.

Finding Your Flow

“All matter, including you and I, has rhythmic movement within it and our quest should be to create a proper rhythmic harmony within ourselves…you feel happy when you sit near an ocean because your vibrations try to synchronize with the frequency of the waves.”

~Ed Viswanathan~

There is an ebb and flow to awakening. Be willing to release all that no longer serves you. When we have identified with a particular way of being for a long time, the ego gets invested in that identification and often becomes resistant to all else. Some will say “that’s the way I’ve always been” as if that’s a good thing.

We are here to evolve, to discover the limitless depths of being and play in the realms of infinite potential. Imagine if the caterpillar, upon discovering her brand new wings, ignored them completely in favor of continuing to crawl  through life simply because that is all she has ever known.

In order to find your rhythm within the flow of life, one must master the art of being receptive and accepting without becoming apathetic or asleep throughout the process of transformation. Take a moment to sit in silence. Notice your breath. Pay attention to the rhythms of your body and the flow of thought which arises. It can take some practice to create peaceful space within your mind, but there it waits – love in the space of stillness.

Presence

“No matter how long your journey appears to be, there is never more than this: one step, one breath, one moment… Now.”

~Eckhart Tolle~

This moment is the creative spark of life. Rather than allow the past to define your present, change your thinking so the present transforms the past. When you choose to take ownership of your state of consciousness in the Now, you open a world of possibility. Challenges become gifts and enemies become healing angels, perceived missteps become adventures, and you may just discover that you are right where you need to be.

If one’s perception is focused deeply on the Now, the troubles of the past or worries about the future are seen for what they are: thought patterns. When you rise above thought, you can dance in the fullness of who you are.

Seek only to be Present. Notice when the mind becomes a distraction. Observe without resistance and choose instead to be still for a moment. Your acceptance of the Now removes drama and intensity from your life experience. You have the ability to face what is right in front of you and consciously utilize it as the next step of your transformative journey.
