Love and Understanding

“We’re fascinated by the words–but where we meet is in the silence behind them.”

~Ram Dass~

Compassion and understanding are the side effects of conscious listening. Whenever you choose to bring an open heart to your meeting place, you create an opportunity to learn something new. In this space of awareness, you’ll discover an alternative viewpoint, garner understanding of others’ challenges or fears and have a greater opportunity to move into love.Love and judgment cannot coexist in the same space. Look upon yourself with compassion. Look upon others with compassion. Seek only to bring the best version of yourself to your life experiences. This is even more important within the workings of the mind. Every thought sends energy out into the universe. Purposely send kindness whenever possible… and as the Dalai Lama says, “It is always possible.”

Consciousness is rooted in the deep stillness of your being. It expands your energy to touch the Divine, provides clarity and brings understanding, not through the mechanisms of the mind, but through harmony with the pulse of life itself. See yourself as the observer who acts and loves and holds space while cultivating the art of detached compassion – for yourself, for those who grace your life with their presence and for the world.

The Light of Love

“The more Light you have, the better you can see what is trivial and outmoded in your conditioning.”
~Ralph Blum~
The light of consciousness dispels the darkness that obstructs some aspect of your life situation. When you choose to open to receive, it is ready to pour into you. Utilize your relationships to heighten your awareness. Life is about being open to experience, vulnerable and willing to expand into joy from wherever you are with what you have. Seek to cultivate the art of love. You are the Universe in motion.

When you interact with those who struggle with repeating patterns, hold them in your mind with love and compassion. Everyone is on the same path. Whether we awaken in this particular lifetime or one yet to come, it’s important to remember that awakening and joy will definitely come.

This is the moment of renewed clarity, opening and awareness. We are participating in a collective shift of energy. Joyousness illuminates our ability to see clearly and this new clarity may call upon you to shift direction and move into new experiences. Ask, “What do I have to offer?” and then allow love to lead the way.

Messages in the Now

“Spirituality is not adopting more beliefs and assumptions but uncovering the best in you.”
~Amit Ray~
When you choose to really pay attention, you’ll discover that messages are everywhere. It’s an interesting process to observe the flow of experience, see what repeats or leaves a lasting impression, and then research various spiritual interpretations. Inner wisdom subtly seeks to make itself known through reflections that capture our attention.
Your life experience is a loving, constant and evolving conversation with the Divine. Let yourself be inspired. The movement of awakening can take many forms and ultimately you will discover the way that is most appropriate for you.
Likewise, consciously living your truth and being fully present may allow you to be a conduit for messages to come through for other people. We are mirrors for one another, each playing our role to perfection. As we rise above the ego, the messages that come through become more pure.
Others may come to you for advice. Should you notice yourself giving similar encouragement or insight throughout the day, realize that the information is actually for you. The universe will often send the perfect person to provide an opportunity for you to recognize your own wisdom.

Self-Knowledge

“The more you know yourself, the more clarity there is. Self-knowledge has no end – you don’t come to an achievement, you don’t come to a conclusion. It is an endless river.”
~Jiddu Krishnamurti~
The challenges that we face ultimately bring out the best in us. Through trial and error we learn to face our shadows and incrementally awaken. This is a never-ending process. The journey is not only long, but vast as we wander the playground of experience.
The point of power is always in the present moment. When we can consciously approach the Now with a sense of awareness and balance, we can trust that the future will tend to itself. Seeing yourself clearly, it becomes possible to combine the wisdom borne of experience with self-awareness and transcend the mundane. No one can walk this journey for you, it is personal and unique.
Everything offers an opportunity to awaken. Look into yourself with love and patience and know that there will be times when you miss the mark and others when you shine with the brilliance of a thousand suns. Trust the processes of your awakening. There is far more to life than meets the eye.

Experience Love

“What you will see is love coming out of the trees, love coming out of the sky, love coming out of the light. You will perceive love from everything around you. This is the state of bliss.”
~Don Miguel Ruiz~
Our purpose is to awaken and everything in our experience supports this endeavor. Through the process of healing the wounds of the past, we drop limiting beliefs and rediscover Oneness. We learn to see through the drama and ego-driven roles of this world to the infinite energy that connects us.
Should you find yourself getting lost within the stories of the mind, go outside and listen to the birds sing. Immerse yourself deeply within the present moment and you will discover that you cannot listen and think simultaneously. This simple act redirects your energy away from past and future and into the Now.
As we become more aware, the world around us is transformed. Though nothing has changed, our perception expands and we are able to see more clearly. Challenges become vibrant aspects of empowerment. Contrast reveals the evolving dance of opposites. Practice recognizing the Divine in everyone with whom you interact. As you discover sacredness within yourself, you’ll see it everywhere.

Appreciation

“Let’s lay down all our judging for appreciating. Let’s lay down our righteousness and just be together.”
~Ram Dass~

Spiritual awakening is a constant process of forgiveness. As long as there is still one person, governmental entity, business or circumstance that you can’t forgive, there is still work to be done.

What if you chose to find one thing to appreciate about each person who has ever been a challenge in your life? What if you chose only to speak about that positive thing when prompted to discuss him or her. What do you think would happen?

Life is a blend of dark and light. The contrasts we experience provide insight and wisdom we could never access if everything was one dimensional. Everything is multi-faceted; therefore, there is always an opportunity to find the good, assimilate the lesson or cultivate new strength, no matter what the circumstance.

Love who you are at this moment. Remember that you are a culmination of all that you have experienced. Everything and everyone has played a specific role in your awakening. When we overcome the addiction to blame we create a space in which we experience connectedness and Oneness with all life.

Be Still

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”
~Ram Dass~
You are the stillness in which life happens.
In stillness we can begin to sense the infinite. As a spiritual seeker, it’s important to learn how to quiet the mind. Within this space of infinite possibility, the quiet truth of your inner wisdom can make itself known.
The mind seeks to create a constant flow of thoughts, ideas and opinions. It fears the silence and fills that space with meaningless garble as a distraction. You are much more than your thoughts. You are a spark of the Divine which desires only to awaken to its infinite nature through the momentary illusion of human experience. As you learn to rise above thought, you will discover a lightheartedness and freedom that is astounding.
Enlightenment is learning to reside in the present moment as it is. Be still and listen to the wisdom of your soul.

Be The Change

“Remember, we are all affecting the world every moment, whether we mean to or not. Our actions and states of mind matter, because we’re so deeply interconnected with one another. Working on our own consciousness is the most important thing that we are doing at any moment and being love is the supreme creative act.”
~Ram Dass~

All too often we shake our heads in disbelief, amazed by the lack of consciousness that we witness in the world around us; however, we are all deeply connected and are reflections of one another. In order to make a difference, we must first begin within.

When we release the need for drama or chaos, it ceases to seek us out. As we heal our wounds, we are able to experience one another with open hearts. As we move past judgment into compassion, a new picture emerges… and it is beautiful.

Don’t try to fix others – not your friends, not your family. Simply tend to your own state of consciousness, bringing awareness and kindness to each and every moment. As your vibration increases you may find yourself breaking out of a rut, dropping old ways of being or beginning new aspects of your journey. You don’t have to make dramatic changes to have dramatic effect – choosing to smile more, to be gentler with yourself and others is a great place to start.

Expanding Consciousness

“As we grow in our consciousness, there will be more compassion and more love, and then the barriers between people, between religions, between nations will begin to fall.”
~Ram Dass~

There is a consciousness arising within you. You have chosen to be here now, to read these words, to discover new ways of being, thinking and experiencing the essence of life.

The path of transformation is expanding consciousness as you become more aware. This beautiful energy is constant and always a part of you. It can become lost from time to time under the seemingly never-ending stream of input from the ego; however, by being fully present you can access it in any moment.

It’s one thing to look for enlightenment and peace within challenging situations; however, even greater depth can be achieved when you look to raising your frequency when things are going well… to ask “What’s next?”

You inner purpose is to awaken – nothing more. As you bring a constant spiritual approach to all that you do – looking for ways to connect with your own inner sense of joy, peace and delight – everything else will fall into place perfectly.

Inspiration

“I would like my life to be a statement of love and compassion–and where it isn’t, that’s where my work lies.”
~Ram Dass~
As we awaken, we are drawn to teachers that reflect the qualities we would like to refine in ourselves. Notice those who inspire you and consider the fact that that they are merely reflections of you. Life functions as a mirror – things that trigger us are the aspects to which we would rather turn a blind eye; however, reflections also show us the best of who we are.
Consciously spend some time being observant today. Notice what inspires you. Conversely, notice what frustrates you and then simply turn your attention inward. Celebrate how far you have come and quietly do you work around any reactivity that arises.
Each of us is a master engaged in the art of awakening. Be gentle with your own process and embody attributes that lift your spirit into realms of infinite possibility. True wisdom is the conscious awareness of how little we know. With humility we can transform the mundane into the miraculous.
