Our First Responsibility

Recognize the magnificence of your being.

“We are most powerful when we are being whatever we want to find in the world. This is our first responsibility.”
~Adyashanti~

All too often we shake our heads in disbelief, amazed by the lack of consciousness that we witness in the world around us. But, we are all intertwined. In order to make a difference, we must first begin within.

When we release the need for drama or chaos, it ceases seeking us out. Healing our wounds, we are able to experience one another with open hearts. As we move past judgment into compassion, a new picture emerges… and it is beautiful.

As your vibration increases you may find yourself breaking out of a rut, dropping old ways of being and beginning new aspects of your journey. You don’t have to make dramatic changes to have dramatic effect – choosing to smile more, to be gentler with yourself and others is a great place to start.

Don’t try to fix others – not your friends, not your family. Seek only to tend to your own state of consciousness, bringing awareness and kindness to each and every moment. This is how we change the world.

Passionate Living

Living with an open heart creates a space for joy, enthusiasm and passion in your life.

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.”
~Osho~

There’s something beautiful about the act of creation. Within its grasp we become pure channels for the love, light and laughter of the universe. Whether you bring artistry into the world for others to enjoy or simply dance with joy in the privacy of your home, your creativity is an act of love.

To passionately engage in the present moment, you must be (temporarily, at least) ego-free. Life then becomes a joyous expression and while you are open, you can actively participate with existence itself. This is an opportunity to expand your awareness.

It can be challenging to live at a high, passionate, intense level for too long; therefore, it’s beautiful to celebrate these moments of connection by allowing yourself to get lost in the flow and enjoy the ride.

The Secret of Life…

Life does not need to be as serious as your mind makes it out to be.

“In today’s rush we all think too much, seek too much, want too much and forget about the joy of just being.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Don’t be so consumed by time that you forget you are eternal. Awareness is the natural by-product of releasing attachment to things, ideas and desires that distract you from experiencing the joy of being.

You are a master in the process of awakening, a beautiful masterpiece coming alive, each line drawn through the gift of experience. Seek only to be fully present with whatever unfolds. Quietly do your inner work and allow the infinite energy of the Divine to flow through you.

You can set yourself free. Rather than getting caught up in the drama of a mind-made story, see if you can broaden your viewpoint enough to view a challenging situation as an opportunity to awaken. Choose to allow inner joy to be the foundation of your actions and responses.

When you embrace life, with all its rough edges, and recognize the sacredness in everyone and everything, the playful sacredness of your own true nature will be reflected to you.

Focus on Gratitude

Whatever you place your focus upon grows stronger in your experience.

“Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”
~Lao Tzu~

Life is filled with limitless potential. You are filled with limitless potential. Why take that infinite power and use it to call up the past? Why fret about tomorrow? Most people live in regret or anticipation because that’s how they were taught to live. The whole world seems trapped by opinion and perception and those who choose to experience the world in another way can sometimes feel misunderstood.

Begin small with daily gratitude. Expand it from the easy, wonderful things in your life to encompass whatever arises. Love your bills. Enjoy preparing and paying your taxes. See challenges as opportunities to shine. Asking these three questions can often open your mind to healthier perception:

1) What is the gift for me in this moment?
2) What am I trying to learn?
3) How can I bring the best version of myself to this situation?

You don’t need to know the answer immediately, simply live the questions and they will open your ability to receive. The higher your vibration, the easier life flows. The infinite power of the Universe supports you in miraculous ways – always.

Beauty

Choose happiness over and over until it is your natural response to life.

“Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.”
~Buddha~

True happiness is not dependent upon outside factors. It is simply a peaceful acceptance of the present moment while residing in the knowledge of one’s own empowerment. Don’t wait for your life situation to fall into place before you choose to feel happy and fulfilled. It’s important to cultivate the ability to be at ease with the unknown. Doubt (and all that arises from it) is simply one more path to awakening.

Your thoughts create a filter through which you experience and interpret the events of your life. We live in an infinite universe, each person translating what they see based upon their level of consciousness. These perceptions can vary dramatically – someone vibrating at the level of Fear or Anger creates incredible stress and anxiety while one who vibrates at the level of Willingness or Joy creates a authentic sense of peace and stability.

You can purposely shift yourself to higher levels of consciousness by choosing happiness as often as possible. Observe your thoughts and focus upon those that strengthen and encourage rather than those that undermine your ability to operate from your fullest potential.

Life is your teacher… pay attention! Messages of love, support, guidance and wisdom are all around you and when you open to them, you open to a new level of consciousness.

Inner Vision

Know thyself.
To see another with clarity and objectivity, one must first master stillness.
~Alberto Villodo~

The more self-aware you are, the greater peace you’ll experience. Every step that we take upon this journey is meant to create the perfect adventure of discovery. The destination is wholeness, and through wholeness we ultimately contribute a higher vibration to the collective energy of the planet.

Your unique path of awakening will ignite your inner vision and you will no longer be as dependent upon outside factors in order to achieve happiness and balance in your experience. Life, in all its messiness and glory, is the vehicle through which we achieve enlightenment.

You can be a source of stillness. You can dream and be an inspiration to those who grace your life. In moments of solitude, listen… love… be… And when you choose to share your inner wisdom, your words will be authentic and insightful.

Projection

All that you see is a reflection of your state of consciousness.

“The appearance of things changes according to the emotions; and thus we see magic and beauty in them, while the magic and beauty are really in ourselves.”
~Kahlil Gibran~

We are all multi-faceted beings. The physical world provides a reflection of these infinite layers so that we can develop a greater understanding of ourselves and of others. Observe your interpretation of life – Do you feel safe? Loved? Does fear arise or do you feel misunderstood? Of course different interpretations can seem true in various situations. What may be perceived as empowering one day can just as easily be experienced as overwhelming the next.

Allow yourself the freedom to explore these nuances without judgment. All are simply aspects of the human condition. As you grow in consciousness, you’ll cultivate the ability to see through the illusion and to experience life on a deeper level. Beneath emotional reactivity there is always a sense of peace and grace. It’s helpful to be aware of these contrasting polarities in order to drop judgment. Self acceptance allows us to demonstrate more compassion for others when we witness them caught in their own distress.

Laughter heals

Your presence is transformative.

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.”
~Dr. Seuss~

When life seems challenging and the weight of expectation feels a little hard to bear, it’s important to remember that you do not need to seek the light. You are the light.

Humans tend to get lost in illusion and forget their sacredness, innocence and inner beauty. One way to spark healthy self-awareness is through laughter. When you can share a moment of connection, laughing until tears come to your eyes, everything else fades away and you are fully present once again. Laughter is your souls way of reminding you of the joy that always lingers just beneath the surface.

Share kindness. Share compassion. But most importantly, remember to let your inner clown out to dance once in a while. Trust the love that flows through the universe. Your willingness to laugh opens you to receive the blessings that life has to offer.

Peace Comes From Within

Choose to bring something peaceful to life’s conversation.
“One has to become feminine. One has to become receptive rather than being aggressive. One has to learn the art of relaxation rather than learning the strategies of how to conquer the world.”
~Osho~
When we go inward, we discover of a greater dimension of silence and peace. More than the absence of noise, the mind itself is quiet and we can commune with the infinite. Rather than seeking to experience this stillness far away from the intensity of busyness of the world, seek to find it within yourself and purposely bring it into your life experience.
The awakening soul learns how to access this sense of stillness and peace, even in the midst of chaotic situations. Yes, this takes practice but is well worth the exploration. Make a conscious choice not to allow another person or circumstance to dictate the level of your joy. Outside factors ebb and flow; however, inner grace is permanent, infinite and complete. With this in mind, everything becomes a movement of energy in the game of awakening. We begin to see others as soul mates and participants who assist with our spiritual growth and development.

Facing the Unknown

Exploration of life allows us to discover hidden aspects of ourselves.

“Once we’re thrown off our habitual paths,
we think all is lost,
but it’s only here
that the new and the good begins.”
~Leo Tolstoy~

Facing the unknown with courage doesn’t mean that fear does not arise. However; courage is a by-product of ones willingness to walk through life knowing that there is a purpose to the madness and every situation has something of value to teach.

Allow yourself to be vulnerable and authentic. Life’s journey will lead you through the ecstasies of joy and connection as well as the heartbreak of confusion or loss. Our pilgrimage is layered with every imaginable type of experience, and it is through experience that we awaken.

Gradually you will discover the gift your soul requires. You’ll venture into the dark only to discover the light that you carry within. This light sparks confidence and passion, emboldening you to cross the threshold into a new realm of experience… and it is here that you will come to know yourself as sacred, eternal and beautiful.
