Choose Celebration

“There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
~Nelson Mandela~

There is no need to wait for a reason to be joyful. Honor this moment through laughter and playfulness and bring a gentle awareness to the perfection of your life. The ego-mind creates a heaviness that distracts one from enjoying the present moment. It may tell you that things are not good enough, that you are not yet good enough or that there’s too much to be done… there’s no time to be silly or frivolous. Consider that the egos job is to teach through the contrast; therefore, choosing to purposely explore the opposite of it’s serious inclination is a good use of your energy.

Those who know how to celebrate life also know the joys of working hard, and loving deeply. They bring an empowered, meditative quality to the present moment rather than being lost in thought. See if you can recognize the sacredness in the ordinary. Existence responds to the wonder of your light. Open your heart to the moment and be the loving witness to all that you see.

Compassionate Action

“That is what compassion does. It challenges our assumptions, our sense of self-limitation, worthlessness, of not having a place in the world. As we develop compassion, our hearts open.”

~Sharon Salzberg~

We are continually in the process of learning how to walk in the world deeply connected, yet understanding that each journey is a solitary experience. Mankind has learned how to judge, blame or criticize as a means of ego-driven distraction. As long as there is something to fight, one forgets to do their inner work.

There is great beauty to be discovered in every moment. You are endowed with great strength and insight – begin by going within. What is stopping you from being at peace Now? Please understand that your compassion must include yourself. Drop the weight of self-judgment, guilt or regret and consider only what the present moment is offering.

Gratitude Moments become pure joy as I commune with life. In Presence I see a neighbor who consistently picks up trash while walking her dog, another who brings morning coffee to a neighbor in need. Friendliness and kindness abound. Compassion teaches through consistent example. The courtesy and light that we share sparks resonant frequencies to act in kind.

What You Seek

In a world filled with limitless possibility, whatever you seek is what you will discover. Each time we choose to find the gift in a situation, one makes itself known to us. Pay attention to your thoughts and words for they are your personal conversation with the Divine… When we approach the present moment with a resounding “Thank you!” filled with gratitude and joy, it becomes easy to see more clearly.

Choose to honor all things as sacred. This approach releases the tendency to judge or reject and opens your heart in miraculous ways.

You are a master in the process of awakening, a conscious co-creator of your own experience. As a soul seeking empowerment and enlightenment, realize that your choices dictate your reality.

Oneness brings a sense of stillness and connection into your experience. Watch how existence interacts with itself. A tapestry of exquisite design is being created. Everything flows together in a way that creates support and balance.
.
Darkness, limitation, fear and doubt are mind-made prisons of our own creation. Fortunately, the door is wide open. You can choose to step across the threshold into a world filled with freedom, joy and exploration. Let your light guide you…

Between the Mystic and the Mundane

“Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place.”

~Rumi~

To be the soul of a place speaks of conscious silence, empowerment and peace. Our role is to bring a sacredness to all that we do. Your spirit can lift the energy of those around you. An awakened spiritual seeker can transform the mundane into the ordinary because of the light that shines through them.

Unique gifts are discovered by slowing down and keeping things simple. Whether walking in a garden or standing on a subway, there is magic to be discovered. Oneness arises through Presence and rather than waiting for such moments to arrive, create them. This can become your natural way of experiencing life and that is the art of Zen – living an ordinary life in an extraordinary way.

Balance and awareness allow you to participate in situations one step removed from the emotion and drama, alert to the nuances of the bigger picture because of your expanded vision. Drop all judgment and attachment to the details and be available for whatever comes your way. If you stumble, find the humor, pick yourself up and walk on. You are a bridge between the mystic and the mundane.

You Are Beautiful

.
Passion inspires us to reach new heights. It demands vitality and vision and through it, we are transformed. Imagine how your life experience would change if your greatest passion was simply to awaken. Your definition of success would change. Your motivations would naturally align with spiritual enlightenment. You would discover that every moment offers an opportunity for expansion.
.
…And yet, along the way it can be easy to get distracted. Desire creeps in and the focus shifts to obtaining the right job, mate, home, title, fame, children, security. What began as a simple enthusiasm for life and joy becomes multi-layered desire that offers continuing highs and lows depending upon our attachment to outcomes. There’s nothing wrong with having preferences or goals; however, it’s important to remember that nothing is more important than your joy.
.
You are here to awaken. How you choose to do that is part of your unique journey. Remind yourself often to create a passionate life experience. Fill your life with positive, supportive people, approach each day as an adventure and nurture your soul. Your light can shine in such a way that simply being in your presence helps others to see more clearly. You are beautiful.

Never Stop Learning

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

~Eckhart Tolle~

We are constantly engaged in transformation and all of life supports our awakening. As we strip away layers of illusion that create separation, we come to understand the truth of who we are. When challenges arise, dig deeper. Understand that you are safe and supported, even though it certainly can feel like the opposite sometimes.

As you awaken, new facets of your soul begin to shine. When working in the spiritual realm with clients, I often see them as pure light emanating in all directions that is somehow both gentle and powerful. The purity of love and light is almost overwhelming.

Understand that others’ responses to you will vary based upon their level of consciousness. Some will be drawn to your light for inspiration or to bathe in your radiance, others will want to try to extinguish it, and some, recognizing a kindred spirit, will offer kindness, friendship and support.

Every circumstance offers the possibility of greater awareness. You are  more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

The Power of Light

Yesterday I encountered dragonfly during my morning gratitude walk. Poised beautifully on an agave plant, his wings sparkled in the sunlight. As I came closer to take a picture his head turned and it seemed that he looked deeply into my eyes. Captivated, I thanked him for the reminder to see through my own illusions.

The gossamer glimmer of dragonfly wings takes years to develop. This is a loving message that as we mature, our experiences reflect the lessons of the journey. Mastery and balance come from the integration of all the aspects of Self cultivated throughout the process of awakening.

When nature grabs your attention, it can be a powerful practice to seek out the spiritual meaning, meditate upon it and understand how it may relate to your current life situation. Little reminders, encouragement and inspiration are all around us.

Dragonfly medicine relates to the realms of water and air. Often, it indicates a great deal of emotionalism and passion in youth has matured into wisdom and greater control. His appearance implies that changes are likely about to occur. Ultimately, dragonfly reminds us that we are light and we can reflect it in beautiful ways.

The Clouds of Emotion

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”

~Thich Nhat Hanh~

Like clouds, emotions are mutable. Sometimes light and wispy, sometimes dark and full of the promise of rain, but always moving endlessly on the air current. You can use conscious breathing as a way of being an active participant in moving the clouds along. When emotions arise, be observant. They always show truths that lie beneath the surface and then you can actively work with them.

While it’s important to feel your emotions fully, it’s equally important to remember that they are temporary. The saying “This too shall pass” is true in every circumstance, whether joyful or challenging. In each moment you have an opportunity to cultivate a greater understanding of yourself and the world you create around you. See yourself as a master in the process of awakening.

For me, the clouds in the sky are a beautiful, ever-evolving work of art. Many times throughout the day I just stop to appreciate the beauty and watch the changes. The moment of stillness is a simple way to honor the sacredness of creation that is always in motion.

Acceptance

“Intimacy is a totally different dimension. It is allowing the other to come into you, to see you as you see yourself, to allow the other to see you from the inside, to invite somebody to that deepest core of your being.”

~Osho~

When you love and accept yourself, there is no fear. You allow others to experience the truth of who you are. You share your light with the world without seeking outside validation, for there is no need. You are safe in your expression of the Divine.

It’s easy to be open with someone who accepts and understands you. It becomes a little more challenging with those who judge or even attack you, and harder yet with those who trigger old wounds. However, each of these situations teaches something different. Every moment is an opportunity to bring the best version of yourself to your life situation. Act with integrity, do your best, accept what is.

Love has nothing to do with desire or neediness, only giving. It is a powerful flow of energy that attaches to nothing but resides openly within the present moment. It does not fluctuate based upon events because it isn’t dependent upon external factors. It has the capacity to create dramatic change due to the purity of the energy.

Life is a dance of contrasts, experience and expansion. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the mystery of ruthless acceptance in motion.

Rise Above

“There is only one perpetrator of evil on the planet: human unconsciousness. That realization is true forgiveness. With forgiveness, your victim identity dissolves, and your true power emerges–the power of Presence. Instead of blaming the darkness, you bring in the light.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Transformation happens in the Now. This moment is all that matters. Face it with positive intention and allow the energy to unfold as it will. As you become more aware, you’ll recognize any unconsciousness that arises and cultivate the ability to see through the mechanisms of the mind.
When working through loss, anger, fear or resentment… notice, notice, notice. See what arises for you. What patterns repeat? What is your inner dialogue? How do you feel? Once you have drawn your awareness to the source of your discomfort, make a conscious choice to take responsibility for it. Experiencing pain is an aspect of the human condition; however, so is rising above.
You do not need to know all the answers before moving forward. Begin with gratitude and choose to take one conscious step. This trust expands your perception and opens the ability to see more clearly. Act with integrity, do your best and accept what is.
