Threshold

To enter a new life we must be passionately engaged and self-aware.

Some changes call to us. A new life beckons and we must go through the process of releasing all that has become so familiar while we walk forward into the unknown. This aspect of transformation contains the paradoxical emotions of fear and excitement within it, and we can diligently explore what we’ve learned, honor the process and listen to our inner wisdom. When you stand at the threshold of a new life, consciously and lovingly bid adieu to the old through ritual, meditation or prayer, and walk forward with faith.

Some changes are thrust upon us: financial hardship, illness, loss, betrayal… these collective and personal moments of dramatic and immediate change call upon us to move into acceptance as we find a new way of being in the world. It’s important to remember that everything serves a purpose. At higher levels of existence, love is always in play. Part of the human condition is to be blind to all the nuances and purpose of these changes; therefore, trust is required. The spiritual process calls upon us to explore the mysteries of life in order to discover the gifts and blessings that abound.

Change is Messy

“Open your mind, expand your character to embrace the world. Then you will find guidance along the path.”
~R. L. Wing, from the I Ching Workbook~

Life is quite simply this:  interconnected, continuous, transformative movement.

Whether your life situation is challenging or beautiful, remember that “This too shall pass.” Life, by it’s literal definition, is the process of adapting to change.
Change is often messy. Our attention brings everything to the surface so that we can examine, discard or renew. Consider how cleaning out a closet creates temporary chaos in that particular room. Everything gets out of joint, but the end result is a space that has benefited from your attention and energy. It’s often the same with our spiritual, emotional and mental transformation. Upheaval leads to peace.
The thunderbolt of change has the ability to awaken us to new levels of perception immediately. The opposite of a gentle rising in consciousness, sudden shifts dramatically shake up our world in ways that are unexpected, and always… always! a gift is waiting to be discovered. See each moment as simply a gathering of new information and be willing to receive – this journey of awakening is merely the beginning of a glorious transformation.

Present Moment Acceptance

“The true task of a spiritual life is not found in faraway places or unusual states of consciousness. It is here in the present.”

~Jack Kornfield~

Small acts of kindness can change the world around us. Just as consistent drops of water will eventually transform stone, loving actions leave a lasting impact. Practice reaching out in thoughts and behavior with kindness. When you choose to see the sacredness in all beings and in every situation, you become a channel for the love, light and laughter of the Divine.

The paradox of higher consciousness is this: By giving without asking, we attract all that we need. By putting others first, we wind up ahead. When we live without fear, life responds to us in miraculous ways.

Seek to break free from the limiting belief that life “should” be a certain way and instead, choose to embody complete acceptance of life as it is. Acceptance is not predicated on liking something; however, its presence opens the possibility of clarity and empowered movement.
Your journey is your own. Each of us is ultimately responsible for our own joy and the unique way that we choose to walk through the world.

Reflections

Sometimes it can be challenging to see ourselves clearly. One of the most beautiful aspects of the human condition is our ability to reflect truth to one another. Consider setting an intention is to be an authentic, loving reflection of the Presence in others.
When you enjoy someone’s integrity, compassion, kindness or sense of humor, it’s because they are reflecting your own wonderful qualities to you. Likewise, when you see patterns of behavior that frustrate you, it’s important to look within. Turning and facing your shadows makes it easier to release limiting patterns as they arise.
Pay attention to the words you use to describe the people you encounter throughout the day – they will provide tremendous insight. Each of us views life through the filters of our own perception. If there are things you wish to shift or heal, simply do so without any self-judgment or recrimination. Otherwise, honor and own your beautiful qualities and allow them to shine.

Self-Care

You don’t have to be angry, triggered, depressed or fed up in order to create change. When you make self-care a priority, your balance will help you remain clear and calm in the midst of trouble. It will also set a baseline energy in your experience that will make it easier to notice when something feels off, thus allowing you to address it in the early stages of development.

The human experience is a paradoxical one. We learn through emotion and yet often struggle to manage and express our emotions in healthy ways. By bringing Presence into your experience of the Now, you can become the observer. Notice how you feel in response to events in your life situation, world events or your vision of the future, and honor your feelings. Move as quickly as you can into the heart-driven knowledge that there is a blessing inherent in every situation. You are a child of light. You are safe, loved, supported and guided each and every step of the way. Recognize the importance of creating inner harmony and consciously acting from a space of personal integrity. As an old soul, your perception will likely be far different from that of the masses. This is a vital aspect of your spiritual growth. You can hold space while playing your role in the awakening consciousness of the planet.

Simplicity

“There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.”

~Leo Tolstoy~

Each state of consciousness creates a new reality. There are always new levels to explore and as we awaken, the world around us is transformed. All change begins within. As we reach new levels of understanding our perception expands outward, affecting our words and thoughts, expectations and desires.

When you choose to utilize simplicity, patience and compassion within your life situation, it automatically brings greater mindfulness to the present moment. We find healthier ways of interacting with one another, we make decisions that add to our joy rather than detract from it and we seek Oneness.

All that you seek is already within you. Peace, contentment, fulfillment and happiness are choices that we make every day. You have the power to create the life of your dreams. It is your birthright to express yourself in ways that are deeply fulfilling. No matter what has come before, every moment is a new beginning. Start now, knowing that peace begins with you. The more inner peace you have, the more you have to share with others.

Creating Space for Change

The physical world, as we experience it, originates from our thoughts, beliefs and expectations. You are not trapped by the world of form, it responds to you – providing a canvas upon which you can paint your dreams.

Begin by understanding how powerful you are Life is not meant to be a struggle, but in our quest, we’ve forgotten the effect we have on the world around us. Our thoughts determine how we process our experiences; therefore, observe the timbre of your thoughts and ensure that they support the changes you wish to manifest.

Rather than repeating the same old patterns and experiences, be willing to break free from your comfort zone. Trying something different provides new levels of experience. It shifts the energy – perhaps slightly, perhaps a cascade of life changes – and allows you the opportunity to expand into uncharted realms.

All change begins with a vision. Keeping the end result in mind, taking conscious action in the present moment and celebrating the new as it appears is all that is required. Leave enough room for a miracle. Micromanaging from our limited human perspective is way too exhaustive, and it’s much more exciting to watch the Universe in motion.

Karmic Lessons

There are times when we seem to walk blindly into challenging karmic circumstances. Temporary blinders are necessary because most would not consciously choose to engage in the discomfort required by the soul for growth. Strong emotional reactions typically indicate that karma is in play.

In challenging circumstances, seek the gift or the lesson by going within. Once the situation has served its purpose, it will either no longer be required in your experience or you will feel completely neutral about the person or behavior.

Everyone who enters your life has a role to play in your growth. When ready to heal old emotional wounds, the higher Self sends an energetic call out into the universe requesting assistance. Those who answer the call are willing to play a role (typically adversarial) to bring the energy of the wound to the service. These loving souls are willing to risk losing our love and goodwill in this life to assist with our awakening.

When you get triggered, when life gets intense, healing is possible. The ego may attempt to distract through stories of victimhood or martyrdom; however, resistance indicates that true transformation is at hand. Remind yourself to slow down and see clearly.

Movement

To live without limitation means that you allow room for surprises, movement and passion. The Tao speaks of purposefully being like a river – endlessly moving, flowing with ease, alive to life itself. When life is too predictable, there is no dynamism and we become stagnant; therefore, the soul craves and creates movement to ensure that we are consistently in the process of allowing consciousness to express itself through us.

Wisdom lies within the contrasts of all that we experience. As we awaken, we change how we respond, how we think and act, and how we process new information. Those who are still unconscious have no knowledge of this ability – their life experiences keep them in a constant state of reaction, fear or regret.

As we discover inner mastery, we step into the realm of unlimited movement. No matter where you are on the journey, take a moment to observe how far you have come. Life mirrors what is happening within us and the more centered and expansive we become, the less we are affected by externals.

Visualize light and energy forming around a thought. See it expand as it flows out into the Universe. Sparks of joy merge with the life-force and love of the Divine… how big can it get? How far can it go? Movement is the dance of consciousness.

Transmutation

“Transmutation:

  • Grapes must be crushed to make wine
  • Diamonds form under pressure
  • Olives are pressed to release oil
  • Seeds grow in darkness

Whenever you feel crushed, under pressure, pressed, or in darkness, you’re in a powerful place of transformation/transmutation.”

~Lalah Delia~

Intense pressure is very powerful. Whether physical, emotional, psychological or intuitive, we are transformed by the challenges we face. Beautiful gifts await discovery; however, they can often be hard to recognize or understand while the transmutation is happening.

Fear not. Your soul knows exactly what it is doing. Your awareness is being tempered by the forces of nature. Approach the Now with an open heart and experience whatever the present moment brings while having faith in your ability to rise above.

You shine with the brilliance of a thousand suns and rainbows are reflected in your tears. A brilliant masterpiece is in progress – your efforts will not be in vain. The cycle of initiation is actively in play and it’s powerful to remember that nothing is ever lost, it merely changes form.

Trust yourself. You know more than you realize and are ready to explore new facets of strength, empowerment and awareness. The expansion of Consciousness is in process.
