Accept, Then Act

“Accept – then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life.”
~Eckhart Tolle~
Spiritual practice requires an openhearted acceptance of whatever unfolds in your experience. Resistance causes pain. Begin with the premise that everything works toward your highest good and plays a specific role in your soul’s awakening. Embrace the present moment, and through it, consciously explore the infinite facets of your true and Divine nature.
You can live an awakened life and stop inflicting suffering on yourself or others. It begins here and now. How will you choose to communicate today? What will you focus upon? Can you bring the best version of yourself to each and every interaction?
Empowerment comes from taking full responsibility for everything in your life. It’s not about blame or self-directed anger or frustration. Rather, through acceptance, we discover the ability to transform any situation by transforming ourselves.
Give yourself, and those in your experience, space to thrive and grow. Pure acceptance is an expression of love that comes from the highest level of your being.

New Beginnings

“Change can be scary, but you know what’s scarier? Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving, and progressing.”
~Mandy Hale~
Everything offers an opportunity to awaken. When your plans fall apart, when people leave your life, when you’re left standing alone in the midst of upheaval… it only means that room is being prepared for something amazing to happen. Resist nothing.

In such situations, the unawakened become lost in the ‘should-have-beens’ and drop into victim consciousness. The ego creates a story that entraps them in a repetitive pattern of pain and frustration.

Conversely, those who have learned to create inner balance utilize the tools they have acquired on the path of transformation and begin the process of healing. They are motivated by faith and operate from the premise that all things work toward their highest good. Expansion requires us to drop the things which no longer serve our growth. It allows us to step into empowerment and flow with the movement of life. From there, anything is possible.

Journey of the Soul

“The journey between what you once were and who you are now becoming is where the dance of life really takes place.”
~Barbara De Angelis~

Walking the Path of Transformation does not mean that we remove ourselves from life but that we explore it more deeply. The awakened soul recognizes the value of all events – whether harmonious or challenging – and seeks to discover the gifts that reside within every aspect of the journey.

It is only the ego which demands that the present moment be other than what it is. We create suffering when we long for something to be different, never realizing the empowerment that awaits when we delve beneath the surface to seek the core of love. Judgment is nothing more than a distraction the mind creates to justify a lack of compassion or involvement while blocking our ability to consciously participate with an open heart.

Acceptance means saying yes to life – even the hard parts. The progress of your journey can be measured by the amount of peace you create within your experience. The ego will still make its appearance when you least expect it; however, you may find that you notice it more quickly and bring yourself back into balance. This movement into consciousness is a result of the awakening you have experienced so far. Compare the responses of today to those you might have had a year ago (or five or ten).

Now, contemplating the infinite nature of the Universe, consider all the spiritual work you have already done, the lessons you’ve integrated, the healing you’ve experienced, the gifts of love that you’ve shared with others… all that is merely the tip of the iceberg. The expanding consciousness which awaits us all is nothing like we imagine because it defies all boundaries, limitation and expectation.

Happiness

“Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.”
~Carlos Castaneda~
Happiness is a choice. So is misery. Each of us is responsible for our own joy; therefore, change begins with consciously changing our thoughts – choosing happiness again and again until it becomes our natural response to daily events. All transformation comes from within.
Life will provide ample opportunities to practice acceptance, forgiveness and compassion. The process of growth is both deeply personal and collective. Your unique journey is one of learning mastery and those who grace your life play the roles required for your awakening.
When you choose thoughts that create empowerment and peacefulness, nothing has the power to take your happiness away. Even in the midst of tremendous challenge, there will be a groundedness of spirit that is unshakable.
In the present moment, can you choose to surrender to what is? That is the foundation of genuine happiness. Make this a daily practice of walking meditation as you go deeper into your own expression of joy. Open yourself to the experience of life without judging or trying to control. This is the art of contentment.

Compassionate Detachment

“Detachment does not mean non-involvement.
You can be deeply involved but not entangled.”
~Jaggi Vasudev~

True love, whether expressed through romance, friendship, our relationship to the planet or to ourselves, requires the gift of space. When we drop expectation and neediness, what remains is authentic compassion and kindness. We learn to honor one anothers paths, thriving during moments together as well as those spent in solitude, and consistently tend to our own healing. In this manner, loving relationships are based upon mutual respect rather than drama or conflict and there is no desire that anything be other than what it is.

Many people believe that drama (emotional reaction and conflict) proves that someone cares. This is an ego-driven concept that measures worth by how much energy we absorb from one another. When you notice that you are no longer interested in participating in drama, love becomes a higher, more accepting quality that is born from the culmination of experience. And from there, we enter the realm of detached compassion.

See life as an adventure to be lived. Walk forward with the trust of a child in the process of discovery. Relate to life from a space of gratitude and bless all the moments we share with one another and take one more step into the unknown. Allow those in your life to learn their own lessons in their own time-frame and in their own way. This is a gift of love.

Infinite Possibilities

“When you acknowledge the integrity of your solitude, and settle into its mystery, your relationships with others take on a new warmth, adventure and wonder.”
~John O’Donohue~

There is a fathomless place within you where infinite possibilities dwell. Over lifetimes, you will explore the limitless facets of love, enlightenment, creativity and ways of being. Each level of exploration offers myriad ways to express yourself as you are transformed by the varied experiences drawn into your realm.

Those who are not consciously seeking enlightenment are still on this journey. Their inner wisdom prompts them along a path of discovery where new information is constantly being absorbed until suddenly, something shifts. A new paradigm emerges – seemingly out of nowhere – and life takes on new meaning. This is the powerful, natural process of awakening.

Practicing non-judgment and acceptance creates a space in which that transformation can occur. Your willingness to allow others to be exactly where they are creates a level of safety where they can drop their defenses, clearing the way for new insights to emerge.

When you choose to see everyone as your teacher, life becomes a place of empowerment and discovery. Trust the processes of your awakening with the realization that you are right where you need to be.

See Yourself Differently

“There is really nothing to be achieved here; only something to be accepted-the fact of your own divinity.”
~Paul Brunton~

When we are led by joy, amazing things happen. Let the expression of uniqueness dance in your eyes as you gaze upon the world. Your passion awakens infinite possibilities. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who follows their bliss and shares that energy, simply by being authentic.

Make a conscious decision to see yourself as perfect in your imperfection. Quirkiness, when contrasted with moments of insight and kindness, creates an aura of  awareness that simply allows you to embrace what is. Your Presence is transformative.

Each of us has a unique role to play in our collective awakening. Tend to your own state of awareness knowing that all will unfold in the perfect way at the perfect time. Be willing to try something new today. Experimenting with the unknown often brings out wonderful aspects of the Self that have been lying dormant. It is time to explore the vastness of your being.

You are already a masterpiece. There is nothing to find, nothing to discover… you need only to drop the barriers within you that block you from seeing the truth of your infinite nature and potential.
