Stillness

“Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and just listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions.”
~Eckhart Tolle~
Silence is more than the absence of noise. It is an inner communion with peace and awareness. In the stillness we become open to receive and it is within that gap of ‘no mind’ that we can touch the infinite.
Our current experience of the world is one of bombardment – a blend of sound, marketing, opinions, expectations and ego-driven thought. Our senses are often overwhelmed. Many spend each day running to accomplish many self-imposed tasks while neglecting the one thing that truly matters – grace.
Create pauses throughout the day to appreciate the beauty around you. Stop and breathe. Find something for which you can be grateful. Imagine joy flooding every aspect of your being. Touch the realm of limitless possibility and you will discover inner sacredness and beauty.
In the midst a cacophony, stillness can be accessed by dropping your resistance to noise. Your acceptance is another gateway into stillness. As you practice being at peace with what is, you’ll discover new depths of perception and serenity. This is where inner wisdom resides.

The Art of Acceptance

“Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.”
~Kahlil Gibran~

Cultivating the art of acceptance is a life long process. The greatest gift you can give another is to allow them to discover their inner truth in the way which is most appropriate for them. In doing so, we create the space in which a transformation can occur.

Energy is wasted when one feels the need to defend their beliefs. This egoic reaction distracts us from doing our inner work as we extend our focus outward trying to make others understand (and hopefully adopt) our point of view.

It’s a much more powerful statement to simply live an authentic life. When we walk our talk and speak our truth with integrity, we create an impact much greater than mere words can achieve. Be the light which shines in the darkness. Plant seeds of kindness and nurture them with love.

The Celtic Vows of Friendship

  • I honor your path
  • I bring an unprotected heart to our meeting place
  • I drink from your well
  • I hold no cherished outcome
  • I will not negotiate by withholding
  • I am not subject to disappointment

Living by these guidelines gets easier with practice. They are a wonderful measure of how adept you are at the art of acceptance. Should you notice that you are experiencing a struggle with a particular aspect in a given situation, go with and observe where you may have missed the mark. Greater awareness begins from there.

Acceptance

“I don’t mind what happens. That is the essence of inner freedom.
It is a timeless spiritual truth: release attachment to outcomes,
deep inside yourself, you’ll feel good no matter what.”
~Jiddu Krishnamurti~
Acceptance, when engaged mindfully and authentically, is a powerful tool of transformation. Saying yes to life unlocks the prisons of perception and sets us free to experience life as it is without limiting mental interference.
The journey of awakening is unique for each of us. Imagine what we can learn from one another through the sharing of our varied experiences, insights, and love without judgment. Honor each path as sacred. See everyone as your teacher and your life will be enriched beyond measure.
We are lifetime students of love. The contrasts and paradoxes of human experience teach us of the infinite ways that we can enter into the Oneness that is the true nature of our being.
Mastery calls upon us to be conscious of our state of consciousness in the present moment. Your peacefulness creates peaceful experiences. Your love creates loving experiences. When you embody grace and acceptance, your life will be easier.

What We Give

“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”
~William Shakespeare~
There are many opportunities to support one another on the path of awakening. The gifts we give may be subtle or profound, but never doubt the difference that you can make in someone’s life. Likewise, others are waiting to offer you support or messages from the Divine so it’s important to be open enough to receive.
Perchance a stranger greets you in a way that sparks illumination or triggers an idea – that was their purpose. There is great joy in running with new energy that slightly shifts your journey in a different direction. Follow the flow and see where spirit leads you. Your passion may, in turn, spark new life in someone else’s experience.
Our purpose is to fully participate in the ripple effect. We are all connected in myriad ways. The joy is in the journey.

You Choose Your Experience

“Let’s trade in all our judging for appreciating. Let’s lay down our righteousness and just be together.”
~Ram Dass~
Life will always present the situations that are most appropriate for your spiritual growth. Approaching each circumstance with openness and acceptance makes it easier to walk through challenges when they arise because you know that they are there for you rather than something happening to you.
Our purpose is to awaken. As we play in different realms of experience we learn amazing things about ourselves and from one another. However you choose to live your life, be there completely. If you wish to make changes, do so. There is no right or wrong way to experience the infinite.
What would happen if we dropped all identification with a particular group. The need to create definitions and labels limits and separates us. How could our collective experience change if we simply accepted what is and celebrated our time here together? One may say that’ll never happen because too many are not willing to do that; however, you can live life in any way you choose.
Remember, old souls do not fit in. That too is a powerful aspect of the spiritual journey. Learn to embrace your uniqueness, be the observer, and allow your spirit to shine.

The Spiritual Practice of Listening

“Listening is about being present, not just about being quiet.”
~Krista Tippett~

Many people often feel unheard and misunderstood. Consciously choose to be receptive today, offering advice only when it is specifically requested. Being an open presence of non-judgment and an active, present-moment listener is a sincere expression of love and respect. Every moment provides an opportunity to learn from one another.

The next time you find yourself in conversation, observe the thoughts that run through the mind and purposely choose to become present. You may be surprised at the busyness of the ego. Authentic listening demands that we forget ourselves completely (not an easy task) and become the Divine feminine – open and receptive, a conduit for energy, light and love. We cannot achieve communion by being aggressive. Open the door and wait.

Each time another piece of the puzzle falls into place we develop a greater understanding of the whole. True silence exists within you – and in within it, the ego cannot flourish. More than the absence of thought, it is the deep and profound stillness that holds the seeds of infinite possibility. Active listening puts you in touch with the present moment in way that is profound, almost magical.

Be Love

When you feel the brunt of someone’s anger, be compassionate instead of defensive.
When you are triggered and the ego wants to withhold, consciously move forward with kindness instead.
When you are judged… Be love.
Acceptance, unconditional love, honoring all life as sacred, being the peace you wish to see, Radical Forgiveness… all these concepts inspire us to be better; however, it’s important to remember that we require opposition in order for us to cultivate these amazing qualities.
Be grateful for those who challenge you. Personally or globally, each of us is playing the role that is best for the collective growth of all. When you choose to drop judgment, limiting beliefs or hatred, and purposely see beyond the physical, everything is love. Life provides the perfect experience needed for our awakening.
Happiness is your own responsibility. Don’t allow yourself to become distracted by the drama or unconscious behavior to which you might be subjected. The moment you view yourself as a victim, you lose sight of your power.
Cultivate the ability to live open-heartedly in spite of the shocks of life. Anything that shakes you up is an opportunity to awaken to the most beautiful and empowered aspects of your true nature.

The Life of Your Dreams

“I create my own experiences. As I love and approve of myself and others, my life gets better and better.”
~Louise Hay~
The way to create the life of your dreams is to live it now – from where you are, with what you have. Begin your day by focusing on what you wish to experience rather than what is missing. Let gratitude begin the momentum of transformation. Your thoughts have power and when you consciously and consistently choose what to send out into the world, you increase their impact.
Goals are measurable, concrete and tangible; whereas dreams are crafted from the level of spirit. Some wonderful examples of dreams that can enhance one’s life immediately, are:
I will continue to learn my entire life knowing everyone is my teacher.
I let go of dogmatic or limiting beliefs and free myself from the past.
I choose to parent my children consciously. They chose me for a reason…
I will live the life of a poet, seeing beauty all around me.
I will honor all life as sacred and see beyond appearances
There is nothing more important than how you live today. Bring the best version of you to this moment and  detach from specific outcomes. This is what is meant when it is said to focus on the journey rather than the destination.
If your life is filled with one wonderful day after another, if you’ve had a meaningful encounter with someone today, if you’ve shared kindness and had a positive impact on someone’s life, you are living the live you dreamed.

Living Authentically

“You were born to stand out, stop trying to fit in.”
~Roy T. Bennett~

Conscious action accelerates your spiritual awakening. By living authentically and opening to the expansion of life, you become aligned with the infinite and limitless aspects of who you are. Action takes the words and teachings of the masters and puts them into daily practice. When you choose to share your gifts, do so with an open heart.

Let your life sing the melody of the Divine. Live your passion, follow your bliss and be a light to those who are still finding their way out of the darkness. That may be your purpose. If one life is changed in a positive and life-affirming way because of an interaction with you, you have left the world a better place… and there is no greater joy than that.

You are a unique blessing. Seek to remove all that blocks you from being at peace with yourself and the present moment. When you find balance in mind, body and spirit, you’ll discover the ease and grace that come from living an authentic life. Choose to speak in a way that is  loving, uplifting, supportive, compassionate and kind. The greatest gift we can give one another is acceptance.

Disruption

“…something very beautiful happens to people when their world has fallen apart: a humility, a nobility, a higher intelligence emerges at just the point where our knees hit the floor.”
~Marianne Williamson~

Acceptance is saying “Yes” to life. It is not dependent upon liking what is unfolding, rather, it is an inner awareness that releases the ingrained habit of struggle and allows you to step into the present moment with power and grace. Life’s disruptions reveal your strengths.
You are much more than this body or this experience. You are a vast, infinite energy that is in the process of discovery. Simultaneously unique and part of the Oneness that connects us, we are here to discover how to live from the heart.
The purpose of the human existence is to experience every facet of life. So, lifetime after lifetime we play in the world of form. We interact with one another as lovers, enemies, teachers, family and friends in order to discover compassion. Our challenges send us on new roads of adventure and discovery. When you are ready to learn, you’ll find that everyone and everything is your teacher. Living in alignment with your unique way of being in the world will help you to access your inner wisdom.
