Learning Through Emotion

“This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor… Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.”
~Rumi~

Intense feelings, when they arise, are indicators that something within you is ready to be observed, healed and released. When you become aware of your own reactivity, move into stillness and simply notice it. Your awareness begins the process of transformation.

These moments are fleeting and can be just as mesmerizing as clouds moving across the sky. Watch them dance in your mind. Honor them as your teachers. Should they prompt you into action, ensure that you choose to come from a place of love and compassion.

Emotional upheaval shall pass. You may choose to pull back from others as you quietly and mindfully allow the new lessons and insights to emerge. The contrasts of life experience are wonderful teachers when viewed consciously.

Your journey

“Your outer journey may contain a million steps; the inner journey has only one: the step you are taking right now.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Participation is key. Be willing to explore, experience and feel. Don’t close yourself off out of fear, for you never know what beauty may be waiting to unfold in your life.

Consciously keep your attention rooted in the present moment. Break free from the patterns of reliving the past or imagining the future. Resist nothing. Experience the sacredness and mystery of life. When you attach to an end result, you shut out all other possibilities and create pain in your experience.

Plans are meant to inspire movement. They open the heart to new ideas and start a flow of change in our lives; however, often that is their sole purpose. Once we set sail, the winds determine the direction of the journey.

Don’t wait for some achievement to give meaning to your life. Instead, see yourself as an adventurer into the infinite. Life’s magic awaits discovery.

Life’s Grace

“Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies… those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.”
~John Milton~
Each of us chooses how we participate with life. Our day to day experiences run the gamut – from tragedy to bliss, darkness to light, pain to pleasure. Rather than layering a mind-made story on top of various events, we can choose to accept, then act.
Dark moments and challenges are not a punishment, nor are they a predetermined script by which we must abide. Instead, every situation offers a moment to shine, to learn, to expand. With our attitude, we determine how to interpret the events of our lives. Gratitude creates a space where insight and growth can occur.
Begin your day with a blessing. Honor the path of your awakening – no matter how it appears. Seek only to be the best version of yourself. This is the moment of your transformation.

Self Approval

“Our self-images define our own boundaries, limiting us to the narrow ideas of who we believe ourselves to be.”
~Ezra Bayda~

If you’ve ever spent time with someone who criticized your every move, always found fault with your choices or nit-picked the decisions you’ve made, you’d likely consider that person to be toxic, and would probably limit your interactions.

Yet, the unkindness perpetrated by others often pales in comparison to the dialogue of our inner critic. Many people place impossible demands upon themselves and carry the mental weight of perceived mistakes, lost opportunities, guilt or shame.

Should you observe negative self-talk, stop and change the momentum of your thoughts. Affirmations, gratitude and self-love can shift the energy into a more productive direction. Instead of demanding that you be perfect, seek to transform your experience through conscious acceptance. Don’t hate your way to change. Let love open you to the transformative energy that is all around you.

Ultimately, since the world is our reflection, we can actively practice kindness on every level: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. As your self-love increases, you’ll notice that you complain less. Acceptance, compassion, balance and harmony are the by-products of of a person who is at ease in the present moment.

Expanding Consciousness

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness.”
~Eckhart Tolle~
There is a consciousness arising within you. You have chosen to be here now, to read these words, to discover new ways of being, of thinking and experiencing the essence of life.
The path of transformation should be one of constant expansion. This beautiful energy is constant and always a part of you. It can become lost from time to time under the seemingly never-ending stream of input from the ego; however, by consciously bringing yourself fully present, you can access it in any moment.
It’s one thing to look for enlightenment and peace within challenging situations; however, even greater depth can be achieved when you look to raising your frequency when things are going well… to ask “What’s next?”
There is great value in taking a risk, in exploring new situations and circumstances. The choice to step into the unknown raises our awareness and helps us to awaken to greater possibilities.
You inner purpose is to awaken – nothing more. Continue to bring a constant spiritual approach to all that you do, look for ways to connect with your own inner sense of joy, peace and delight, and everything else will fall into place as it should. When things seem to take longer than you expect, it only means that there is more waiting to be discovered.

Soul Inspired Love

“In the end, just three things matter:
How well we have lived.
How well we have loved.
How well we have learned to let go.”
~Jack Kornfield~

Love is an inspired form of giving that breathes life into the heart and brings grace to the soul.

Healing occurs when we drop ideas, beliefs, attachments and conceptual understanding and move fully into the experience of the present moment. Feeling the Now, rather than thinking or worrying in the midst of it, aligns us with the mysterious and infinite nature of life.
Soul-inspired love creates a sense of freedom. Love yourself enough to release behavior that no longer serves you and be willing to receive the joys that life has to offer. Extend that freedom outward, releasing all demands and desire to control.
When you create sacred space within your experiences, you can be a source of great kindness, compassion, grace and safety. The greatest gifts that you can give another are space and acceptance.

Freedom and Acceptance

“All you have to do is say ‘yes.’ Don’t make some big project out of it. Don’t make some big deal out of it. Just say ‘yes.’ You don’t even know what it is to say ‘yes’, but you say it anyway. You’ll never know what it means to say ‘yes’, but you do it anyway. Freedom and Love arise when you die into the unknown mystery of being.”
~Adyashanti~
There are always two ways of experiencing the present moment – resistance or acceptance. Resistance creates anxiety and attachment to end results. The mind struggles to force the situation into a specific ideal of what is “right” and loses sight of the peace and beauty available Now. Even if there is success, the mind won’t see or appreciate it because it doesn’t exactly match what was expected. When there is nothing to fight, the mind will create something to fight against.
Acceptance allows existence to work through you. It opens the possibility of living a vibrant life filled with ease and grace. Be a conduit for divine energy. In order to keep the flow of energy pure, we must get out of our own way knowing that we cannot see the entire picture. Yes, this calls upon us to cultivate faith and operate from a higher level of consciousness. If you are willing to open to it, love is available to you Now.

The Tapestry of Existence

“If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.”
~Margaret Mead~

Every journey is unique. As we learn to honor all paths as sacred, we discover the value of diversity and the gifts we have to offer to one another. Each life is a magnificent work of art that weaves its patterns in the tapestry of existence… and our role as interconnected beings is to live our own truth to the best of our ability. When there is too much “what if” activity in the mind, all creation stops… blocked by fear of the unknown. In order for transformation to happen we must be willing to go deep within. If there is pain, experience it without blame or self-pity and look for the gift that surely lies within each and every circumstance. Never underestimate the value of kindness and acceptance, especially when directed inward.

This moment has the potential to shift the momentum and nuances of your life to a new level of understanding. Awareness creates the space in which a transformation can occur and beneath the worry and the hesitation lies a heart ready to love, a soul ready to expand and infinite possibilities to explore. Trust the processes of your awakening… with trust, something immense opens up. Life becomes filled with the Divine and creates a bridge to eternity. Joy’s greatest expression is in the sharing of your gifts, knowledge and love.

Consciousness and Perception

“It helps if you remember that everyone is doing their best from their level of consciousness.”
~Deepak Chopra~

When we speak of infinite possibilities, it simply means that an object, idea or circumstance can easily be experienced in myriad number of ways depending upon the beliefs, attitudes and life experiences of the person doing the interacting.

To most of us, a chair is a chair. However, to a child who has yet to learn the concept “chair”, that object may be a fort, a place to hide or anything their imagination can conjure. At some point, someone solidifies their imprinting with a statement such as “No, that’s not for play. We sit on chairs.” And, all at once, infinite possibility and joy are limited to a particular “truth” and eventually the child becomes an adult who forgets all the fun moments and discoveries he or she once had.
Consider that our early years in pure experience – everything is interesting, sometimes magical or scary, but we are willing to explore without preconceived ideas or concepts. Then we begin to learn through trial and error and from watching those around us. Limitation becomes hard-wired into our experience.
The next step of personal evolution is the re-awakening of consciousness. We begin to play in the realm of possibility, creating new realities, changing things that once seemed so permanent and find that freedom awaits. So, the next time you find yourself embroiled in a discussion of right vs. wrong or differences of perception, remember that we all process life from our own level of consciousness. Therefore; everyone’s perception is “right” to them based upon their own experience and the lessons which are needed for their soul’s growth. Given the opportunity to explore and learn, our perceptions will surely expand to encompass every possibility.

Abundance

In this vast, infinite universe, there is more than enough energy for all to experience abundance and fulfillment

Each person resides under the law of their own prosperity consciousness. No matter what you choose to believe, life will support it. Rejoice in the blessings that others manifest in their lives, be generous in your giving, open your arms and be willing to receive.

Your thoughts and attention direct your energy. Personal beliefs of lack and limitation block the ability to recognize abundance. Bless all that is already in your life. Enjoy paying bills and taxes, make sure that you are not rejecting the gifts that come your way and treat yourself with love and kindness.

As we begin to create feelings of greater safety and abundance in our own lives, it becomes easier to demonstrate kindness and generosity to others. Know that your constantly expanding consciousness will be demonstrated by choices that support creating and living the life of your dreams.

Traditionally, we associate abundance with material wealth or physical items; however, abundance is the feeling of having more than you need. It’s not surprising that the word ‘dance’ is contained within it, for when we feel abundant, on many levels we dance through life with enthusiasm.
