Karmic Balance

Karma is not about good versus bad, nor is it punishment. The idea behind karmic interactions is to experience both sides of an equation (such as teacher/student or attacker/victim) until we achieve neutrality and balance. Typically, older souls are seeking to redress any outstanding karmic imbalance and arrange their lives at the level of soul to achieve that result. This often leads one into the role of wounded healer.

While it can sometimes be challenging to determine whether or not karma is in action, one indicator is that the situation is charged with emotional reactivity. Once the lesson is complete, we become neutral about the other person or event and can interpret it with wisdom, compassion, or gratitude.

We often have empathy for others who are going through something that we, too, have experienced. While one may not consciously remember past lives, the energy and insight we have gained from them is part of our energetic field. This is why older souls have the ability to step into compassion and also why younger souls cannot. We only learn through experience.

Act with integrity, do your best and accept what is. This is the pathway to understanding and unconditional love.

Your State of Consciousness

Yesterday, while walking through a parking lot, a lady in an electric vehicle began to pull out without noticing my husband and me. We stopped, laughed and commented that because her car was so quiet we didn’t realize that she was getting ready to back out. So we stopped for a moment, no big deal.

Just then, another person walked up on our left and began to verbally berate the driver for being oblivious. She was fairly hostile and the driver simply stopped, took the abuse quietly, looked down uncomfortably and paused before going on her way.

This was a quick example of how differing levels of consciousness impact our lives on a daily basis. One event can be experienced in myriad ways by those involved and this seemed a demonstration of several perceptions that were all accurate at varying levels. The facts were these: a driver made a minor error and no one was harmed. The flow of energy that I observed ran the gamut from humor and patience, to outrage and abuse, to shame and embarrassment.

A very basic interpretation would be that Dave and I were vibrating at the level of Neutrality, the abuser at the level of Anger and the driver at the level of Fear. Each level creates a filter through which we interpret our experiences. The lower levels might indicate that some self-karma was briefly at work.

We all seek greater awareness. This brief moment was a good reminder that we are all human. Every experience offers an opportunity to grow and learn from one another.

The Gifts of Friendship

“The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.”
~Elisabeth Foley~

True friendship occurs when we have discovered wholeness within ourselves. Instead of looking for someone to complete us, we discover the joy of unity between two unique individuals who allow the winds of heaven to dance in between them.

The greatest gift you can give another is unconditional acceptance, allowing them to discover their inner truth in whatever way which is most appropriate for them. In doing so, we create an atmosphere in which transformation can occur.

Bring conscious presence into your relationships by giving those you love the space they need to grow and thrive. See your connection as a sacred, living expression of Divine love as you honor the perfection of the journey.

Whether we walk with these soul friends for a moment or for a lifetime, the love remains. Life after life we find one another, changing roles and scenarios, learning, teaching, laughing, challenging. Celebrate the deep connection and express gratitude for the role they play in your growth. There will come a day when we have a deeper understanding of the energy behind all of these experiences.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment is a life-long process. In the light of consciousness we begin to see more clearly and can consciously participate in our own awakening. Understand that life is full of distractions – some personal, some collective; however, you can choose to expand in a way that is empowering.

Ultimately, the soul heeds the call of awakening and we are able to break free from the ravages of karma. While life still unfolds as it will, we no longer feel victimized by circumstance; instead, we learn to transform challenging situations through love. To find a personal state of grace and balance, we must cultivate the ability to allow life to unfold without attachment to outcomes. The dance between dark and light opens our consciousness to explore the space in between, a resting place where healing occurs.

Each of us will forge a unique pathway to higher dimensions. The most beautiful thing that you can do is share your insights and wisdom and act in a way that exemplifies them in the world of form. Delve into the delight of consciousness, for once you explore the mysteries of life with an awakened heart, you will never be the same.

Karmic Lessons

There are times when we seem to walk blindly into challenging karmic circumstances. Temporary blinders are necessary because most would not consciously choose to engage in the discomfort required by the soul for growth. Strong emotional reactions typically indicate that karma is in play.

In challenging circumstances, seek the gift or the lesson by going within. Once the situation has served its purpose, it will either no longer be required in your experience or you will feel completely neutral about the person or behavior.

Everyone who enters your life has a role to play in your growth. When ready to heal old emotional wounds, the higher Self sends an energetic call out into the universe requesting assistance. Those who answer the call are willing to play a role (typically adversarial) to bring the energy of the wound to the service. These loving souls are willing to risk losing our love and goodwill in this life to assist with our awakening.

When you get triggered, when life gets intense, healing is possible. The ego may attempt to distract through stories of victimhood or martyrdom; however, resistance indicates that true transformation is at hand. Remind yourself to slow down and see clearly.

Soul Connections

“We all are so deeply interconnected; we have no option but to love all. Be kind and do good for any one and that will be reflected. The ripples of the kind heart are the highest blessings of the Universe.”
~Amit Ray~

When we meet someone with whom our soul has shared history, there’s a powerful moment of recognition and attraction. There is an immediate response and we feel the need to interact with one another.  Pay attention to these soul connections – they often portend the beginning of a karmic contract.

Love resides at the core of the relationships, dramas and stories that we experience, though at times it can be hard to recognize. When someone is excessively challenging, when you’re engaged in loss or struggle, the immediate visceral response feels much stronger than a loving soul connection, but it is there nonetheless. As we process the lesson and discover our strengths, we will have a better understanding of the roles played by those who have challenged us and a greater appreciation for the nuances and beauty of our unique journey.

Those who challenge you the most on the physical plane love you the most on a soul level. They are willing to risk losing your affection and goodwill in this lifetime in order to spark expanded consciousness and awareness.

Awakening

“If every day is an awakening, you will never grow old. You will just keep growing.”
~Gail Sheehy~
There are three phases of life – Youth, Power, and Wisdom. We progress through these 27 year cycles, reconnecting with the soul on a deep level with each Saturn return. During the Youth cycle, the character is formed as we grapple with childhood conditioning and reawaken to our soul age and consciousness, typically around ages 27-29. These moments are intense because they are the first time we come face to face with the fire of our spirit.
In the Power phase we explore the material plane more thoroughly. During these years we typically explore the lessons to be found through raising a family, earning money, acquiring possessions, and finding our unique voice in the world.
We enter the Wisdom phase at age 54. This is the second time that we come into direct contact with the soul. If we have awakened through the lessons we faced, it will be easy to make appropriate decisions that change our way of being once again. During this phase we are more introspective. We explore ideas of death as well as the infinite journey of the soul and begin bridging the energy between the physical and spiritual.
We are lifetime students of love on a journey of awakening. At age 81 the soul chooses whether to leave the planet or continue with karmic lessons. Life after 81 is very karmic, if we need to reexamine lessons, we become very childlike once again, perhaps requiring care. If the lessons have been learned, life becomes a sharing of love and wisdom and others are blessed by our presence.

The Quest

“Say it, reader. Say the word ‘quest’ out loud. It is an extraordinary word, isn’t it? So small and yet so full of wonder, so full of hope.”
~Kate DiCamillo~

So here we are, journeying together on a quest throughout time and space. Adventures, challenges, drama and breakthrough await. The only way to explore fully is to become lost in the story until we cultivate an understanding of how the game works and all obstacles have been faced. As we expand our awareness we have a broader perception and, based upon the basic rules we have uncovered, can anticipate the next steps to take.

Once you recognize the patterns, things become simple. You draw in various circumstances and people that reflect your current vibrational frequency. As you become more conscious, greater potential is realized and you can move effectively through various life situations.

The point is the vastness of experience and to see how many facets of being you can discover. Each one combines to create a masterpiece of light and shimmering possibility and when you have exhausted the need for physical experience, it will drop away and the game will continue on other levels of existence.

One side note: This is a collective experience – what helps one helps all. What harms one harms all.

Enlightenment

“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”
~Cynthia Occelli~

Enlightenment is a slow, transformative process. The journey inward hesitantly begins with many starts and stops. The heart feels pulled to engage the mystery and we begin the fumbling movement towards ecstasy.

The ego equates enlightenment with death – and indeed, enlightenment is the death of the ego. As we evolve, it must become more subtle and so we visit the same type of circumstances repeatedly until we have gleaned insight from many differing levels of consciousness.

Ultimately, the soul heeds the call of awakening and we are able to break free from the ravages of karma. While life still unfolds as it will, we no longer feel victimized by circumstance; instead, awareness transforms even the most challenging situations through love.

Each of us will forge a unique pathway to higher dimensions. The most beautiful thing that you can do is share your insights and wisdom and act in a way that exemplifies them in the world of form. This is the process of transformation.

Anam Cara

“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
~Albert Schweitzer~
A chance encounter, reconnecting with an old friend, recognizing a kindred spirit… these everyday miracles are transformative. As we grow in awareness and experience, we learn to embrace these moments of love and connection. They often seem to come in the perfect way to assist with times of change, bringing new insights and perspectives.
Be grateful for those who grace your life. Celebrate the bond of love between you and elevate one another. Let your soul friends, your Anam Cara, inspire you to be the best version of yourself. The gifts we share become our strengths. When friendship connects on a deep inner level, the soul responds with a resounding “Yes!” and we are renewed.
Compassion and clarity are the fulcrums of this journey of awakening. We can act as mirrors for one another and remind those we love of their beauty and potential. Nothing is more sacred.
