The Sacredness of Now

“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again.”
~Joseph Campbell~

In this moment, you can purposely connect with the sacredness of all existence. You needn’t wait for a specific goal to be accomplished, for the “right” person to complete your life, to have enough money in the bank or have the scale read a particular number – the Now is filled with love and infinite possibility.

Every morning I step outside in gratitude and find myself in a sacred space. Each flower and tree and blade of grass reaches toward the light of the sun. The energy of my home is peaceful, filled with kindness and support. Each conscious breath I take reminds me to appreciate the body and life-path that I have chosen for this incarnation and honor them too as sacred.

Purposely choose to stop for a moment and access a state of pure potential. Close your eyes, turn off the mind, relax into the silence and be. See how it feels to touch the infinite without distraction. This is your journey of awakening.

Expanding Consciousness

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Awakening doesn’t happen overnight, it comes through consistent, daily practice. Expecting an epiphany to suddenly change everything may blind you to the gentle and steady transformation of your spirit. For those committed to deepening your spiritual journey, here are some steps to keep you balanced:

Make a commitment to yourself – Act with integrity, do your best, accept what is.

Follow your inner guidance – Meditate, use tools which resonate with your beliefs, develop your intuition.

Connect with others who support your awakening – One sign of spiritual transformation is the ability to accept support, love, direction and kindness from others. You do not need to walk this journey alone – we need each other.

Use tools that empower you – Your spiritual journey should ultimately be one that balances you on all levels: spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. Explore and find the approaches which meet your needs and allow them to transform as you awaken

Allow healing to occur -When conscious growth is the top priority in your life, everything else will benefit

Be creative – Whether writing, exploring artistry, cooking, decorating, healing or communicating, creativity is a conduit for the Divine.

Share what you’ve learned – The act of articulating beliefs anchors them more deeply within us.

The Tao of Now

“Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free: Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate.”
~Chuang Tzu~

Today, choose a moment to consciously free your mind from attempting to control the events of your life. Go for a walk and simply let yourself be carried along by the beauty of the day. Observe everything in your line of vision. Notice your breath, the sounds you hear, the wind, the cloud formations, – everything. Simply let yourself be immersed and transported, and notice how it feels to just go with the flow. Now decide to let freedom be your guide. Realize that everything in your experience is taking place at it’s own pace in its own way. You can move in sync with the eternal, perfect Tao as well.

People may be incredulous when you demonstrate authentic neutrality – that lets you know that you’re on the right track. When we are aligned with the Tao, the energy immediately begins to shift. In this magnificent, infinite Universe, there are many ways to find your balance, to create love and to walk in alignment with your own truth. Your journey is unique and in this moment you can choose to be transformed.

Love

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
~Rumi~

There are many types of love to explore – the love for a spouse, a child, a friend, a lover – the scent of your favorite flower, enthusiastic doggy greetings, savoring the taste of an exquisite meal, dancing in the rain, beautiful moments of presence… the list is endless.

All that we observe is an outward expression of the love that begins within each one of us. Life’s reflection shows us where we are in relation to the Divine. Love expands our awareness of the Oneness we share. When you choose to fall madly in love with life, limitations disappear, resistance melts away and your energy expands with a passion and power that draws the beauty of existence to you.

Choose to view the world through the eyes of love today. Notice the way the light streams in through your window, appreciate the architecture or the craftsmanship you see, talk about the things which bring you joy, honor your body, your abilities, your passion… and then take it further by expressing gratitude for your challenges, celebrating the journey, your awakening and the unique light you bring to the world. In this moment, you can choose to let the magic of your life begin.

Teach by Example

“[Kids] don’t remember what you try to teach them. They remember what you are.”
~Jim Henson~

The only way to teach truth is to consistently live it. Words are limiting and sometimes lessons fall on deaf ears or are simply misunderstood. When we become aligned with our soul’s purpose, the energy in us sparks new life into the energy fields of others.

Every one has the capability to become a master – whether in this life or a future one – and the soul is always moving forward on the path of enlightenment. Most people cannot see the potential of mastery within themselves and there is truly no way to “make” them believe it until a spiritual awakening occurs.

We have the opportunity to inspire, teach by example, and create space in which transformation can occur. When interacting with others, notice the ego and then choose to see past it. To the best of your ability, respond directly to the essence of the soul. How beautiful it is to create a field of energy that supports everyone in your sphere of influence to see his or her own unique light.

Self Realization

“Once you start growing in your self-realization, you develop such a personality that you see the whole world as one.”
~Nirmala Srivastava~
Love yourself enough to be patient with your spiritual growth. Create a consistent, purposeful, supportive inner dialogue. Kindness is the natural by-product of honoring your own path as sacred.
Observe your thoughts. Does your inner critic block you from feeling peaceful? It can sometimes be difficult to see ourselves objectively. You interpretation of the world is a direct reflection of your self-love. Are you able to see the best in others or recognize their potential? Apply that same gentleness to yourself.
Everyone, no matter what role they play in this lifetime, is a spark of the Divine in motion. If someone triggers you, remember that it is because they are reflecting something about yourself that you do not wish to see. Purposely choose to go within. As you heal your own wounds and dysfunction, you’ll discover that you are less triggered by the dysfunction in others. Thus, peace, expansion and joy are possible.

Enlightenment

“What drains your spirit drains your body. What fuels your spirit fuels your body.”
~Carolyn Myss~

No truths are absolute – each one of us processes what we experience through our own unique filters of perception. There is plenty of room in an infinite universe for several viewpoints to be accepted and expressed in any given situation. The only thing that shifts perception higher (so that we can see from a broader, more informed viewpoint) is to raise one’s frequency. This is what allows us to move into acceptance and compassion.

You are a Master, as are we all, on a journey of discovery and awareness. You may be wondering how to become more self-aware and how to raise your frequency. Here are some suggestions:

  • Spend time with others who are self-aware
  • Place your focus on things that bring you joy
  • Refuse to participate in gossip or complaining
  • Embrace and express your gifts
  • Learn to meditate and quiet the mind
  • Utilize high frequency books, music, art, foods, crystals, etc. as part of your daily routine
  • Consistently cleanse negativity from your home or sacred space using sage, tones or bells, or blessed, scented water
  • Gratitude….

Never close your mind to spiritual knowledge. The continuous process of enlightenment opens new perceptions – and no matter how much you learn, it’s always just the tip of the iceberg. Each experience, challenge and inspiration reveals yet another beautiful facet that allows you to be a living expression of love.

Transforming Anger into Compassion

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
~Maya Angelou~

Many people feel very justified living in the frequency of anger and blame. After all – the atrocities around us are well documented and it has been decided that there is evil in the world. When we practice the art of looking deeply into situations instead of reacting in judgment, we might find that had we been born in that situation, with that imprinting or belief system, that it’s possible we could have behavior similar to the one being judged.

Understanding transforms anger into compassion. Looking deeply is one of the most effective ways of transforming ourselves and thus, the world.

Buddhism teaches that the lack of understanding creates suffering and that understanding is the power that will liberate us.

Christ taught that others know not what they do and should be forgiven… to love one’s enemies.

Gandhi said that love is the force that can liberate. The only way that we can love is to understand.

When judgment arises in any situation, try asking yourself the following questions:

  • Why is he/she that way?
  • How did he/she come to think like that?
  • Why doesn’t he/she see things the way I do?

If you don’t know the answers to the above questions, realize that the judgment you feel is based upon your own projections of the situation and that you must look deeper to truly understand. Understanding the the most important aspect of transformation. When we create a dialog, we allow an opportunity to understand the other as well as ourselves. Understanding a person brings us the power to love and accept him or her. And the moment we love and accept another, they cease to be our enemy.

In The Stillness

“A balanced inner calmness radiates from a peaceful center. It neither craves others’ approval nor rejects others’ presence. It neither pulls towards nor pushes away. It has a reverent attitude towards life and all its inhabitants.”
~Donna Goddard~

In life’s ebb and flow we experience times of activity and participation and times of silence and seclusion. Both are powerful movements of energy. Silence and non-action can make others uncomfortable because it’s unusual, especially in our society. In silence, we can connect to Divine Intelligence and explore insights that will be expressed in more outgoing phases of life.

When you choose to go within, you have access to infinite stillness. Even in moments of intensity, stillness waits to be discovered. You are a unique and divine being and there is no “right” way to quiet the mind, though you may wish to experiment with different approaches until you find one that works consistently for you.

Mere words cannot express the beauty that awaits you there. It is truly something that must be experienced and cultivated so that the quality of silence permeates everything that you do. Within the stillness we find love. Within the love, we find the unifying connection to life.

Soul Friends

“A ‘heart-link’ describes the relationship between two persons who have known each other for many lifetimes and who have developed a deep and loving understanding of each other on an essence level.”
~Jose Stevens~

Throughout our journey on the path of transformation we join with others from our soul group to fulfill specific spiritual contracts. Some walk with us for years, others for just a moment – but the love and support is eternal. Bless those who have graced your life by honoring their path – no matter what that path is.

Consider writing down the names of everyone you can think of in your life (both past and present). Next to each name write something that you learned or a gift that you received from the interaction. Go quickly and write the first things which come to mind. You might be surprised at what you discover – about yourself, your journey, your soul’s purpose and your growth.

I am grateful to all of those who have walked with me on this amazing journey. You are loved beyond measure.
