There comes a point along the spiritual journey when we begin to recognize just how much we’ve learned, how far we’ve traveled, and how profoundly our understanding of life has changed. We may look back at earlier versions of ourselves with gentleness, remembering the struggles that once seemed insurmountable and the questions that kept us searching for answers.
And yet, here we are, still learning.
I find something wonderfully comforting in that realization. No matter how much wisdom we gather, how many books we read, or how many moments of awakening we experience, life continues to offer us opportunities to expand our understanding. Just when we think we’ve mastered a particular lesson, another experience arrives to invite us into a deeper expression of what we thought we knew.
This is the beauty of being human. We are both the student and the teacher, carrying the wisdom of our experiences while remaining open to the mystery of what lies ahead.
The Indian spiritual teacher Nisargadatta Maharaj offered a beautiful perspective on this paradox: “Wisdom tells me I am nothing. Love tells me I am everything. And between the two my life flows.”
I’ve always loved the spaciousness of that thought. Wisdom invites us to recognize how little we truly know in the vast mystery of existence, while love reminds us of our connection to everything within it. Somewhere between humility and infinite possibility, we live our wonderfully imperfect human lives, gathering understanding, sharing what we’ve learned, and discovering that there is always more to experience.
There is a certain freedom in releasing the expectation that we should eventually have everything figured out. We can appreciate the person we’ve become, celebrate the awareness we’ve cultivated, and still welcome the possibility that tomorrow may reveal something entirely new.
After all, even the wisest among us occasionally stumble or say the wrong thing. Sometimes the greatest evidence of our growth is simply our ability to laugh, brush ourselves off, and carry on with a little more grace.
Wholeness is available to us in every moment, even as we continue to unfold.
✨Blessing✨
May you honor the wisdom you’ve gathered.
May you embrace the mystery yet to unfold.
And may you delight in the adventure of becoming.
