The ego plays a significant role in your spiritual development. It is not the enemy (those it may feel like it at times), nor is it near as important as it wants you to believe. By seeing and honoring the ego as a teacher, we can transform human conditioning into peaceful Presence.
To enter stillness is to stand at the threshold of eternity. In the unformed, anything is possible. Until we give something form through interpretation or take action, the energy is a field of pure potential. While interacting in the world, pay attention to the antics of the mind and observe how diffused your focus and energy become when engaged in doubt, regret or worry. Rather than getting lost in the hows or whys, seek to create peace in your experience now.
The key is to retrain the mind to operate with deep awareness rather than unproductive thoughts. Through consistent, conscious practice, we become more accustomed to trusting the intuition, allow those small pings of awareness to guide the way forward, and see through the mechanisms of the ego. Experiences founded on peace and contentment increase until eventually, the voice of ego fades into obscurity rather than running the show.
