There comes a moment in every awakening soul’s journey when obedience to external expectations becomes a form of self-betrayal. I was raised within the structure of traditional Christianity — taught to be good, to follow the rules, to please and conform. Yet, even as a child, something deeper stirred within me — a wild knowing that Spirit cannot be confined within walls, labels, or fear.
Leaving home at 16 was both an act of rebellion and a desperate lap toward freedom. I made mistakes, wandered through confusion and heartbreak, and explored life with unrestrained curiosity. Yet, every misstep became a teacher. Every detour shaped my compassion. Every broken rule let me closer to the truth of who I am.
Sacred disobedience is not about defiance for its own sake — it is about honoring the quiet, persistent voice of the soul when it whispers, This way. It is the courage to say no when everyone expects a yes. It is trusting your inner compass, even when it points away from comfort and convention.
Looking back, I see that the rebellion I once feared was never against God at all. It was against the limitations that kept me from experiencing the Divine in everything — in laughter, art, love, creation, and the boundless unfolding of possibility.
My journey has been messy and miraculous, human and holy. And through it all, I have learned that our greatest liberation begins the moment we dare to be true.
May you honor the sacred voice within, even when it leads you off the well-worn path.
May your courage carve the way for others to be free.
And may every act of holy disobedience bring you home to your truest, most luminous self.
