Across spiritual paths and belief systems, many seekers unknowingly repeat the same pattern: placing a teacher on a pedestal. At first, this can feel inspiring — reassuring even. Someone appears to know, to have arrived. But when that teacher’s humanity inevitably reveals itself, disappointment can follow. The wisdom once received may suddenly feel tainted, as though truth itself has been lost.
Yet the issue is rarely the teacher’s humanity.
More often, it is the pedestal.
A guru is often perceived as someone to look up to — set apart, elevated, special. When this happens, power subtly shifts away from the seeker. The teacher becomes the source rather than a mirror, and ego — on both sides of the equation — finds fertile ground.
A guide walks differently. A guide walks with you.
Rather than asking for reverence, a guide reflects. They empower. They offer new ways of seeing, feeling, and being — without claiming ownership over another’s awakening. The invitation is not “Become like me,” but “Remember who you are.”
This distinction is central to my own work. I’ve chosen to include my stumbling blocks in my teachings, not because struggle defines me, but because honesty liberates. My humanity is not a detour from love — it is one of its expressions.
Yes, I recognize myself as an old soul, often vibrating at the frequency of love. And still, I remain deeply aware of how much there is yet to explore. That awareness keeps me humble. It keeps me listening. It keeps me devoted to growth rather than arrival.
A true guide does not promise perfection. They offer Presence. They remind us that the light we seek has always lived within us.
✨Blessing:
May you be guided without giving your power away.
May you learn without losing yourself.
And may every teacher you encounter lead you gently home—to your own wisdom, your own heart, your own truth.
