The Potential Within

When Helping Gets in the Way

It’s challenging to watch someone you love when they’re in pain; however, there’s a big difference between helping someone through a temporary crisis and allowing them to avoid the lesson altogether.

Many of the situations we encounter in life carry something for us to learn. When the lesson is recognized, we move forward with a new facet of strength, wisdom, or self-awareness. But when we miss what the experience is trying to show us, the pattern often returns, sometimes with greater intensity, giving us another opportunity to meet it differently.

You may have discovered that each time a situation repeats, it feels heavier. Layers of energy build up, familiar behaviors begin to take over, sometimes before we consciously notice what is happening, until eventually the only way out is through.

Many call this a dark night of the soul: the moment when we are asked to face the fear, the addiction, the limiting belief, or the pattern that has quietly shaped our lives. Yet within that confrontation lies the possibility of tremendous transformation. The larger the challenge, the greater the opportunity to discover something within ourselves that is ready to awaken. And when we finally step out of bondage and into a new way of being, the soul joyfully recognizes the freedom.

So, the next time you feel prompted to step in, pause and ask, “Does my help leave this person more able to meet their life, or more dependent upon someone else meeting it for them?”

There are many ways to offer support that still space in which a transformation can occur. We can listen. We can encourage. We can stand beside someone while they find their footing. We can remind them of their strength without taking the experience out of their hands.

Love does not always mean removing the difficulty.

Sometimes love is creating the space in which another person can discover who they are capable of becoming.

✨Blessing✨
May you trust the wisdom moving beneath every life.
May you know when to offer your hand and when to honor the path another must walk.
And may love guide you to the sacred place where compassion and freedom meet.
