The Potential Within

The Magic of What Is

There’s a warm wind blowing tonight in my part of the world. I stood outside in the dark, knowing that the leaves from our many fruit trees would be filling my meditation pond. Not so pretty at the moment, and certainly extra work for my Friday, but simply part of what is. The practical mechanics of living sometimes don’t seem so magical, but here, in a deep state of presence, even chores can become a doorway into the Now.

It’s interesting how easily we can become derailed by thought and resistance, spending more energy anticipating what needs to be done than the task itself might require. We tell ourselves stories about how difficult or inconvenient something will be, and before we’ve even begun, we’ve created a burden that exists primarily in our minds.

Tonight, I choose to tell myself another story as I listen to my Tibetan gong sending waves of energy into my healing space. That beautiful tone only sounds when the winds are more intense, and I love that. The breezes bring new energy. Life is communicating, and I am listening.

So, my story is that tomorrow will offer a wonderful workout as I clean the yard, refresh the pond, smudge and clear my sacred space. And, of course, in the midst of it all, the wind may continue to blow, the leaves may continue to fall, and there will undoubtedly be more to do. Isn’t that the nature of life? Nothing stays exactly as we arrange it, and perhaps there’s a certain freedom in no longer expecting it to.

This season is one of releasing before the land sleeps, and I envision the magic of letting go without resistance, of allowing what has served its purpose to fall away naturally. The trees do not struggle to hold their leaves, nor does the wind apologize for carrying them elsewhere. Each simply participates in the movement of the season.

Perhaps we, too, can learn to move through our days with that same willingness, finding something sacred in the ordinary rhythms of tending, clearing, releasing and beginning again. There is no need for every moment to be extraordinary when we recognize that simply being present is extraordinary enough.

And tomorrow, as I gather those fallen leaves, I suspect the wind will have a little more wisdom to share.

✨Blessing✨
May you dance with the winds of change rather than resist them.
May you find a little magic in life’s inevitable messiness.
And may you laugh when the leaves fall just where you finished sweeping.
