There are moments when we feel we’ve chosen poorly, said the wrong thing, or placed our trust in someone who leads us down a path we would never have consciously chosen. Yet, contrary to how it may feel in the moment, each challenge has purpose.
Sometimes we must wear blinders in order to facilitate our karmic lessons. If you knew someone was going to steal from you, for instance, you would likely choose to avoid them. But what of the unfinished karmic contract? What if, the last time you encountered this soul, you were the one who betrayed their trust? An imbalance remains in that shared experience, and the soul, in its desire for balance, may guide you directly into a situation that your human self perceives as a mistake.
This is one of the reasons Radical Forgiveness can be such a powerful healing practice. It invites us to consider our experiences from several levels of consciousness simultaneously. We begin with the very real emotions of our human experience and gradually expand our awareness to include the possibility that, at the soul level, everyone involved has agreed to participate in the lesson.
From that perspective, we may eventually recognize that there is nothing to forgive. The souls came together in love, each offering the other an opportunity for growth and understanding. Once we have experienced both sides of a karmic equation, we can reach a place of genuine neutrality, where the emotional charge has dissolved and the lesson has become wisdom. That neutrality is often how we recognize that a karmic contract has been fulfilled.
Of course, many are still cultivating the awareness and tools that allow them to see their experiences through this broader lens. And that, too, is part of the journey. Understanding unfolds as we become ready to receive it. Be patient with yourself and with others, remembering that every soul walks a unique path, and even when the circumstances appear otherwise, Love is always in play.
