Lucid Living

You are the dreamer and life is the dream.

“To awaken within the dream is our purpose now. When we are awake within the dream, the ego-created earth-drama comes to an end and a more benign and wondrous dream arises. This is the new earth.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Lucid dreaming is a term that means to be conscious of the fact that you are dreaming while still in the midst of the dream. As we awaken spiritually, we discover that life itself is a dream and learn to see beyond the illusion to the truths of our purpose here.

To be spiritually aware in the midst of illusion could be called Lucid Living. This means that we are no longer identified with the things of this world. Seek to bring a balance of your spirituality to your physical expression of life by being in the world but not of it.

Some spiritual seekers withdraw completely from life, shunning the trappings of unconsciousness: money, prestige, tangible items and the like; however, as we awaken the ego becomes more subtle. These same people can tend to develop a new ego-identity: one of “the enlightened one.” They may see themselves as “more evolved” than those around them which involves judgment.

The key is to function well in the world, to enjoy and even love the things of this earth without attachment, to be immersed in the present moment as an awakening soul while walking consciously in the midst of our physical playground.

We are in the process of discovering a peacefulness that transcends the human experience.

Being Present

Today, choose to fully immerse yourself within one aspect of your experience and observe the ways in which you are transformed.

“Practice Presence – embrace the place where life happens.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Lose yourself within a cloud formation. Observe the effortless artistry as the forces of nature consistently transform the day. A leaf falls, the sun rises to its zenith, a flower blooms. The ability to be a loving witness to the miracles of creation sparks passion and peacefulness that long to be given expression.

Throughout the day, bring mindful presence to whatever you choose to do. Whether working or playing or resting, be here now. Notice how your body responds to each step you take. Does the warmth of the sun on your skin awaken a smile? When you close your eyes and breathe, do you feel love? Does the flight of a bird reflect your own sense of freedom?

Your presence inspires the presence in others. More impactful than any words, the stillness of being is a timeless gift that can be shared at any moment. Be the peace you wish to see in the world.

The Life Experiment

Observe how you respond to the world around you.

“The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.”
~Eckhart Tolle~

Pay attention to how your well-being is impacted by the world around you. Part of this life experiment is discovered through openhearted exploration of our physical experience while observing how we respond to all that we encounter. Things that are enriching can be celebrated and enjoyed. Anything depleting should be released or consciously transformed.

The key is to notice when we feel more connected to one another and to the Divine. If particular foods or drink affect the body negatively, observe without judgment and choose to make healthier choices as you move forward. Trust your inner wisdom and apply that same mindful attention to music, reading material, those who surround you and what you choose to bring into your experience.

Eventually, you’ll surround yourself with uplifting energy and encounters that consistently enhance your spiritual, physical, mental and emotional experience. You can choose reactivity or purposely take an active role in creating the life of your dreams.

Awakening

Be willing to stay present with whatever is unfolding in your experience.

“The heart that seeks to awaken, to live genuinely, is more real than anything. That nameless drive calls you to be who you most truly are.”
~ Ezra Bayda~

Your heart seeks to awaken. When you walk consciously in the world, you’ll discover that all of life supports you in this endeavor. Every moment is filled with unlimited opportunities for insight and clarity and the ability to recognize the inherent sacredness in all that you see is heightened.

Let the music of your soul come alive and infuse your journey with joy. You are engaged in the dance of awakening and can strengthen this movement of awareness by living authentically. Your path of transformation is unique and will continue to bless you in ways that you cannot imagine.

Silence the mind and choose to dwell in this moment with balance and elegance. Honor all that you have loved and lost, all that you have learned, and all the beauty that is yet to come. Allow life’s mystery to come alive, transforming your human adventure into one of magic and prescience.

The Gift of Compassion

Those who challenge you the most on the physical plane love you the most on the spiritual plane.

“Through relationship we grow and learn. Through relationship we heal and are returned to wholeness and truth. We need others to mirror our misperceptions and our projections and to help us bring repressed material to consciousness for healing.”
~ Colin Tipping~

The quickest way through any challenge is to utilize the contrasts. As you observe the ego clamoring to take action, choose to slow down and breathe and consciously do the opposite. When we feel compelled again and again to have our say, to voice an opinion, to point out others’ shortcomings, there’s more power in being silent.

Your energy determines how much you get out of this exercise. If your silence contains anger, then it is harming you and not balancing the situation. When anger arises, observe it, and ask how you can bring love to the present moment. As you enter a state of compassion, your silence has meaning and purpose.

There is an ebb and flow to all relationships. They serve a vital purpose in our awakening and it can be helpful to remember that we are all doing the best we can based upon our level of consciousness, imprints, and life experiences.

Living With an Open Heart

You cannot completely understand the changes that you are in the process of creating in your experience. You are on a voyage to a new world.

“With my loving attitude, I help to create a world where it is safe for us to love each other.”

~Louise Hay~
You are a master in the process of awakening. Infinite possibilities await discovery, and the way to recognize them is to drop self-created blinders and limiting thought patterns. You can choose to enter the realm of pure potential.
Pure potential is found in the present moment and can be accessed this instant through acceptance. The way to gauge your level of consciousness is by observing your sense of peace and grace in the present moment.
If there is anger, anxiety, resentment or fear, please understand that you are allowing your mind to disrupt the beauty of the Now. Bring your awareness to the thoughts that repeat and purposely utilize stillness, conscious breath, gratitude or mindfulness to dispel the illusions of thought.
The key to grace is the ability to feel, express and laugh. The magnificence of your being is experienced by being more vulnerable and dropping defense mechanisms. Choose to bring an unprotected heart to your meeting place.

Choices

Trust your inner wisdom.

“Here’s to walking my own path.
Here’s to claiming my birthright, my sovereign power.
Here’s to walking the sacred ground.
Here, to break down any walls between the self and the higher calling.
May every prayer be a celebration.”
~Petra Poji~

Healthy, life-affirming choices are made from a space of joy or love rather than one of fear. When faced with the need to make a decision, pause to breathe, meditate, express gratitude or journal your thought processes. Raise your vibration to the highest level of consciousness that you can prior to taking action.

Inner wisdom is always available. It typically comes quietly, bringing a sense of peacefulness and direction. Conversely, the ego is loud, reactive and repetitive, creating anxiety which results in confusion or procrastination.

Being led by joy cultivates the ability to trust the process of your own awakening. Act from the heart and allow your life circumstances to unfold as they will. New insights await discovery as you explore the mysteries of this beautiful journey. Embrace any challenges or perceived mistakes with love and they will be transformed into the most poignant and powerful moments of your life.

Seeing Perfection in the Imperfection

You are a work in progress, an exquisite tapestry whose intricate design reflects your unique path of transformation.

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
~Maya Angelou~

You are an infinite spirit having a temporary human experience. There will always be moments of perfection and others when you miss the mark. The important thing to remember is that you are perfect, even in the midst of your perceived imperfection.

You have always done the best you can. As you learned, your perceptions changed and you found yourself handling things in different, and often better, ways. Experience is an amazing teacher. The soul will explore various nuances of a situation by drawing it in repeatedly until it is no longer needed. Be kind to yourself as you grow and change.

Each and every person is taking part in this process of personal and spiritual evolution. When faced with someone who is challenging or toxic, remind yourself that they, too, are a work in progress and are doing the best they can based upon their level of consciousness, soul age, childhood imprinting and path of destiny.

Unconditional love is cultivated by accepting people as they are without judgment. This is sometimes a difficult lesson for old souls who view life far differently than most people. Keeping this in mind in your interactions will allow you to be at peace in the midst of transformation.

Compassion

Compassion is the awareness of the bond we share with all beings.

“There was never any heart truly great and generous, that was not also tender and compassionate.”
~Robert Frost~

Authentic relationships are possible only when we have an awareness of who we truly are. When we can see through the mechanisms of the ego to the true spirit of another, we can dance within the paradox of human compassion and higher awareness while holding space. In this manner, we provide an energetic, loving embrace which allows transformation to occur.

Holding space is far different from fixing someone else’s problems or seeking to ensure that they avoid pain. By honoring all paths as sacred, we operate from the premise of love and acceptance – allowing the lesson, offering support and sowing seeds of compassion.

Walk in Delight

We walk in a world filled with wonder.

“I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.”
~John O’Donohue~

We are in the process of discovering our own divinity. As we learn to uncouple from the frantic reactivity of the mind, we create the space in which a transformation can occur. To honor our own sacredness we must celebrate the sacredness which surrounds us.

The journey is one of remembering. As we awaken, we naturally cultivate greater intimacy, connectedness and compassion in our relationship to the earth and to one another. Let life’s magic and grace spark knowledge of the grace within you. When we choose to walk through the world as loving witnesses to its evolving wonder we discover that there is no distance or barrier that keeps us from being Love.

Spend time in solitude, walk in delight and let nature teach you her secrets. It’s time to reclaim the transformative heritage of your soul.
